Forums - Gaming - Nintendo addresses "weak" Switch launch lineup

No i genuinaly believe is a ridiculous thing to say that a console has a horrible launch up when it includes a potential GOTG on it, one think is to say that is anemic, other to act like is the worst launch ever, something we have heard here a lot of times btw, just as the "WiiU had a better line up for launch" nonsense, is like this forum makes people lost even the most basic perspective of things. A line up with BoTW on it cannot possible be horrible, it just can't.

The game isn't a GOTG. It's not out yet. It could turn bad, who knows? The fact remains that if someone isn't into Zelda, there really isn't much in store that looks compelling. You're sold on Zelda, and that somehow prevents you from seeing further than your nose.

I see beyond my nose, and I see how many people in this forums are painfully out of touch with reality. But only time will tell if it was or not a horrible launch up I guess, we'll see how Switch sells while having only Zelda as big title on it and we'll decide how terrible of a launch up it was. As for Zelda, I talk about a potential GOTG just to highlight the relevance of the game, I'm not saying it is a GOTG. Haven't played it obviously, but is perceived as a potential contender for the title.

And since when consoles releases with 20 system sellers? because I'm almost sure that has never ever happened.

There are certainly consoles that have sold with more than 1.

Ah yes, such as the PS4. What did it launch with again? Knack, Killzone and multiplatforms. Multiplatforms available on PS3, X360, PC, and XBO (just one week later).

Nintendo could be releasing the Switch with literally NOTHING and it will still sell well at launch. What comes after that is what we should worry about. Wii U had a great launch = biggest failure since Virtual Boy. 3DS had a moderate launch = decent success. DS had a fairly bad launch = 2nd biggest success ever.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Seriously, the things you say at times. xD

You're the one who doesn't understand what everyone else is saying. So if I were you, I'd refrain myself from saying everyone else is out of touch with reality. OK?

Oh please Hynad, plenty of peoplke acts like is not there, how many times have you heard the "but is only a wiiu game" excuse?

As for the rest, I've answerd you a second before you wrote this

That's not an excuse it is a valid point.  If I didn't have a Wii U I would be buying Switch day 1 to play the new Zelda.  Instead I will be waiting until the new Mario game drops to pick up the Switch during the holiday while buying BotW on my Wii U.  As others have mentioned early adopters are going to make the Switch launch a success regardless of the line-up.  However, the line-up - even with Zelda - is a weak line-up.  It has a great game in it that will sell well on the Wii U and probably sell gangbusters on the Switch, but that doesn't save it from being a weak line-up.

I don't think Nintendo has to worry about all 20 Wii U owners not buying a Switch right away.

I never said they did.  My point is that hinging your entire launch line-up on one game, as great as it is most likely to be, that is also available on another system doesn't make it a great launch line-up.

Its not really a weak launch lineup if it has a Zelda in it tho.
Matter of perception I guess.

Wii also launch with a upgraded last generation Zelda but on the other hand it had something for everyone. Proper third party support at first Call of duty, Madden NFL 07, Tony Hawk, Rayman, Super Monkey Ball, Need for Speed, new IP ready at launch from Ubisoft with Red steel and a packed in killer app game Wii Sports. Comparing the last three launch (Wii, WiiU and Switch), the switch launch is by far worst offering from Nintendo and partners.

Wii[edit]

U.S. launch: November 19, 2006

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Call of Duty 3
Cars
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Excite Truck
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
GT Pro Series
Happy Feet
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Madden NFL 07
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Monster 4x4: World Circuit
Need for Speed: Carbon
Rampage: Total Destruction
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Red Steel
SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Wii Sports (bundled with the Wii console)

Theres quantity but not so much quality. Having a brand new Zelda, Bomberman and Mario Kart 8 and a month later Splatoon 2- even if its a port - sounds much better than that entire Wii list.

If anyone is "out of touch with reality", it's you. You're the one who doesn't understand what everyone else is saying.

People that actually believes is one of the worst launch up ever or worse than the WiiU launch? yes, of course the lack of variety in big games prevents it from being a great launch up, i would not qualify it like great for obvious reasons, but to say it is horrible/worst ever/worst then wiiu when there is such an epic system seller on it? that's being out of reality for me, I don't think quantity is that important at all for a launch up and I have the feeling sales are gonna give me the reason here.

Yes, but anyone who wants a WiiU already bought one. Not many folks will see Breath of the Wild on WiiU and say, "I guess I'll go out and buy a discontinued system for this one game." They'll say "I need this game in my life so I'll buy it on the system with a future."

You really have a hard time grasping the distinction between a single game and a line-up of games.

Oh yes, they only have the potential GOTG dfor launch, absolutely horrible.

And when you remove Zelda? You have a weak lineup dependent on one game - that is also on the wii U.

If a house falls because you remove one part - it had a weak foundation. Then you do the same to the lineup - it is a weak lineup.

It is a weak lineup by design actually. Zelda in March, Mario kart 8 in April. Mario later on this year etc.

A weak lineup, a strong year. Two very different things.

Why would you remove Zelda?

If Twilight Princess is any indication the fact that it's not exclusive won't matter at all. The Gamecube version barely sold anything.
