Forums - Gaming - Nintendo addresses "weak" Switch launch lineup

This one game = potentially a great game. Launch line-up = not great.

Do you understand that distinction?

No, I don't understand how people would be praising a launch up of 20 generic games more than a launch up with a potential GOTG on it, I just don't. WiiU had like 30 games at launch, it was a horrible launch up anyways, not a single system seller on it.

How about 20 good games? Why do they have to be generic?

And since when consoles releases with 20 system sellers? because I'm almost sure that has never ever happened.

There are certainly consoles that have sold with more than 1.

Nobody acts like it's not there. You just fail to understand that one game doesn't make a good line-up by itself. No matter how great the game is.

Choices from a good range of compelling games is what constitutes a good line-up. What the Switch has in store for its launch is anemic at best. No matter how great BOTW is.

Oh please Hynad, plenty of peoplke acts like is not there, how many times have you heard the "but is only a wiiu game" excuse?

As for the rest, I've answerd you a second before you wrote this

Not once. But I'm not out to track every single bits of negativity that people say about Nintendo... So...

And yeah, you did answer. You admit that you don't understand people when they say that one game doesn't make a line-up. And that's because you love your Nintendo. And that's all that matters to you. It's ok, you love them, we get it. But there's really no reason to jump at anyone who feel the Switch has a very limited launch line-up.

Its not really a weak launch lineup if it has a Zelda in it tho.
Matter of perception I guess.

Wii also launch with a upgraded last generation Zelda but on the other hand it had something for everyone. Proper third party support at first Call of duty, Madden NFL 07, Tony Hawk, Rayman, Super Monkey Ball, Need for Speed, new IP ready at launch from Ubisoft with Red steel and a packed in killer app game Wii Sports. Comparing the last three launch (Wii, WiiU and Switch), the switch launch is by far worst offering from Nintendo and partners.

No I genuinaly believe is a ridiculous thing to say that a console has a horrible launch up when it includes a potential GOTG with tons of hype on it, one thing is to say that is anemic, other to act like is the worst launch ever, something we have heard here a lot of times btw, just as the "WiiU had a better line up for launch" nonsense, is like this forum makes people lost even the most basic perspective of things. A line up with BoTW on it cannot possible be horrible, it just can't, that game alone makes you want to buy the system more than most line up launches combined.

The game isn't a GOTG. It's not out yet. It could turn bad, who knows? The fact remains that if someone isn't into Zelda, there really isn't much in store that looks compelling. You're sold on Zelda, and that somehow prevents you from seeing further than your nose.

The GOTG will release in April, and only on PS3 and PS4 though...

In your little buble maybe (I'm sure is gonna be great), for the rest of the world we'll see.

What a coincidence, this is exactly what I think about Zelda! :D

That's not an excuse it is a valid point.  If I didn't have a Wii U I would be buying Switch day 1 to play the new Zelda.  Instead I will be waiting until the new Mario game drops to pick up the Switch during the holiday while buying BotW on my Wii U.  As others have mentioned early adopters are going to make the Switch launch a success regardless of the line-up.  However, the line-up - even with Zelda - is a weak line-up.  It has a great game in it that will sell well on the Wii U and probably sell gangbusters on the Switch, but that doesn't save it from being a weak line-up.

To say Switch has anywhere near a good launch lineup, I'd agree. It has a great game, and a good looking Mario. That's it.
