You gave him a lot of time and effort. He is clearly not interested in this game and I have never seen him say anything good about a Sony exclusive without making a jab. It's an open world game so of course it's going to have open world elements.Same thing with RDR2 and Zelda when they release.

I guess you are right.... the funny things is that when this game was revealed back in 2014.... and after every snippet of the game shown since.... all the detractors accused it of not being a real RPG and not seeing anything RPG related in the game.

Today, they accuse it of being too much like an RPG and now even being flat out tired of the RPG genre. Kinda mind boggling.

Sounds like it will be an awesome game from the people who have played it, but its just not for me. Not a single thing I see of this game makes me excited.

That's ok though. Hope it delivers on everything for the many people who are really hyped for it.

Out of the recent new wave of video-game protagonists, I like her (Aloy, what a name) the best.

First impressions
1) HUD looks awful
2)Graphics looks nice
3) Female protagonist. Different
4) Whys there loads of Robot dinosaurs
5) E3 2016 trailer was really boring and flat. Especially compared to the latest BotW trailer Imo
6) That map looks huge.
7) Exploring ruined cities etc looks fun

That's my thought process from watching the E3 trailer. Main thing that stood out for me was the good graphics and bad HUD. Also I tried watching the videos you posted but when the guy started freaking out about pylons I was done, so watched the latest trailer instead

You mean the extremely empty trailer for Zelda? Showing a horribly empty world. Wouldn't call that a great trailer. It did nothing for the game

Well I meant the switch reveal trailer they got released 2 weeks ago, didn't notice it been empty but nintendo already said they have removed all the npc and villages from there e3 trailer anyway.

Just different to most games. It was the first time I watched a video for the game, and I thought it was different playing as a female. Can only really think of Lara Croft and Metroid who are females compared to countless male leads. This obviously has no impact on gameplay and stuff just something I noticed

1> lol Bad HUD?? did u even see E3 gameplay.. HUD in e3 demo were mostly non existence, except for weapon wheel which only showed up while switching weapon during combat.

3>  Female Protagonist. Different - Dont know what that even means.

4> Too many Robo Dino's!!. Is this some sort of pre setup to counter the empty world of zelda with just Pigs. FYI. There r human enemies & Many Species of Robo dinos. dont know how that is a bad thing.

Sure these are your opinions and are subjective to your taste but atleast make an attempt to give challenging criticism. like the weird facial expression, frame rate, or your burned out of open world games. Like I can say that there is nothing in zelda besides the music I see worth buying the switch for, So far enemies what i have seen from the switch reveal game looks bland and empty, AI is looks dumb, Oh the HUD is so generic, Skyward Sword had a great HUD.

I never said there was too many dinosaurs, I put wonder why there so many as in Where did they come from, who made them etc. I posted my impressions. female protagonist different ie something you don't see often so that's a good thing. I've never played Skyward Sword so have no idea what the HUD is like.  These aren't criticisms just my observations from the trailer I watched.

OK I've had like 6 people quote me saying " Female protagonist differant" and everyone is saying they don't understand. Did I word it wrong or something? I literally meant it's a nice change to having a male lead. What did you all think I meant?

Yeah and this worries me. Gameplay seems to follow the mold of open world games these days, by the numbers. The games you mentioned are good examples, Id add Far Cry and Ass Creed. But I'm so burned out on this formula, could not finish Far Cry 4, Mad Max, Far Cry Primal, or Just Cause. The "huge map, collect a ton of stuff then climg this tall thing to unlock the next area" mechanic is tired. Apparently here you climb really tall robot dinosaurs. Mordors hook was the LotR license, and Nemesis system. Idk if Horizon has any hooks like that.

I don't think the bolded part could be more wrong. And if you sincerely feel that way about this game then I don't think you have watched or read any of the previews.

The one area that this game shines and is different from any open ARPG out there is specifically in its gameplay. Thats one thing every single previewer has praised. Not a single one has said that it plays exactly like this or that but you will notice a lot saying if you have played this game or that then you will e right at home here. And thats before you even get into the naunces of its won gameplay loop.

In every open world game ther will always be a world map, towns, cities, NPCs...etc. Its ridiculous complaining about that because thats like complaining that aracing game has cars and tracks in it. What is and should always be important is how the game is played and how the story is told.

Horizon's hook is the lore and most importantly the enemy design, progression system and the combat system. Simple as that. This is a game where you have to actually craft the item you use to enable fast travelling everytime you want to use it. A game eher buying anything isn't as simple as just dropping off in game currency but also providing whatever special item that seller wants in addition to money. Where how you engage any enemy completely changes based on which other enemies are around it.

I could go on, but I am talking from the same previews that you should have also seen. So my guess is simple, maybe you just dont want to see what everyone else is seeing.

Uh, how can you know lore is one of its hooks without experiencing that lore and knowing how strong it is? You know what game was supposed to have amazing lore when it launched? Destiny. LOL. A lot of the stuff you're describing that makes Horizon stand out are in pretty much every other game. "engaging an enemy changes depending on which other enemies are around" is a generic statement that can apply to literally every action game ever.

And none of the games I mentioned are RPG's, they are all action games. If it looked more like a Witcher knockoff than Far Cry, I'd love that. Witcher is great!

lol @ the last part. Ok, whatever you need to tell yourself, friend.
