So the ps4 sold very well in 2013, 2014, AND 2015.. without a killer app?  And only had one in 2016?

Why would the ps4 be over 50 million if that were true?

The millions of great smaller games were what fuelled the PS4. The top 30 sold PS4 games according to VGchartz(I know its inaccurate, but it can't be too inaccurate) only consist of 3 PS4 exclusives, two of which are remasters. The killer app is supposed to be a system seller, and the main game that encourages the audience to buy a PS4. Not saying that Bloodborne, Infamous, Ratchet, Last Guardian don't shift PS4's, it's just that Uncharted is the one and only standout game that shifts far more units than anything out there. It's the clear front-runner for PS4 right now

Tell me another PS4 exclusive that had a similar impact to Uncharted, or even TLOU remaster.

I'm not criticizing the PS4. It doesn't matter that system sellers are only starting to arrive.

So those smaller games are system sellers then. Also, a lot of people bought the PS4 for mainstream games like FIFA, GTA5 or CoD.

True. Infact people buy consoles mostly for multiplats.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Looks good, here's hoping it can compete with 3rd party RPGs in the story/setting department. And if not, at least play better.

OMG I figured it out! I know why it felt weird to me when people kept comparing this to Zelda and now I know why! This is fucking Shadows of Mordor/Batman series with a bigger map after watching the game play! BotW is not even the same style of game!

edit: obviously without the melee parts, I'm talking about the ARPG elements.

Yeah and this worries me. Gameplay seems to follow the mold of open world games these days, by the numbers. The games you mentioned are good examples, Id add Far Cry and Ass Creed. But I'm so burned out on this formula, could not finish Far Cry 4, Mad Max, Far Cry Primal, or Just Cause. The "huge map, collect a ton of stuff then climg this tall thing to unlock the next area" mechanic is tired. Apparently here you climb really tall robot dinosaurs. Mordors hook was the LotR license, and Nemesis system. Idk if Horizon has any hooks like that.

Too much hype IMO. I hope the game lives up to it, but the pedestal it's been put on is already so high that it will take a lot for the game to live up to the hype.

I am looking forward to it, but I am not mega excited for it. And I do care about story and script, so if that's meh that is a concern. And I think we can all mostly agree the GG has always been pretty good in the gameplay and gfx department but it's been their story / campaign that has been criticised as weak.

Also the reason HZD is compared by some to Zelda: they both have words starting with Z in the name?

i honestly have no more worries about this game anymore. And just like you I was in the worried about the story camp.

But from all the previews I have watched, two things are clear; they all started from the beginning of the game and they all said the begining explains thinsg and sets you up for the journey ahead.

But the thing that actually gave me comfort, was one previewer saying they can see exactly where the story is going and that its kinda cliche. Now some may see that as a bad thing, but I have come to learn that some of the best stories are usually those super simple straighforward stories. Not every dev can tell a complex tale. Just look at the Zelda games, or any super hero movie (except the dark knight) for reference.

as far as story goes, I can almost pretty much tell you what i think will happen. Alloys tribe is attacked, she sets out to find the attackers. Along the way learns more about the world and what happens. And what happens is probably that there was some sort of war and human beings went from making drones to having full blown AI. Then we had a "skynet/matrix" like event and then machines started making machines who in turn went to war with man; man lost. Fast forward 1000 years later and we have the game we are playing now.

Or at least something like that.

On another note, what I particularly love are the enemy designs. Not just how they look but how relevant they are. All the machines are designed to serve a purpose in their mecha ecosystem. All machines have their own beavioural trees, but even better, how you engage any enemy changes simply by which combination of enemies are together.

Reading all you guys gagging over this is enough for me. I don't want to watch any trailers or gameplay so your reactions are much appreciated,

That's what we call the German House Music.

I don't think the bolded part could be more wrong. And if you sincerely feel that way about this game then I don't think you have watched or read any of the previews.

The one area that this game shines and is different from any open ARPG out there is specifically in its gameplay. Thats one thing every single previewer has praised. Not a single one has said that it plays exactly like this or that but you will notice a lot saying if you have played this game or that then you will e right at home here. And thats before you even get into the naunces of its won gameplay loop.

In every open world game ther will always be a world map, towns, cities, NPCs...etc. Its ridiculous complaining about that because thats like complaining that aracing game has cars and tracks in it. What is and should always be important is how the game is played and how the story is told.

Horizon's hook is the lore and most importantly the enemy design, progression system and the combat system. Simple as that. This is a game where you have to actually craft the item you use to enable fast travelling everytime you want to use it. A game eher buying anything isn't as simple as just dropping off in game currency but also providing whatever special item that seller wants in addition to money. Where how you engage any enemy completely changes based on which other enemies are around it.

I could go on, but I am talking from the same previews that you should have also seen. So my guess is simple, maybe you just dont want to see what everyone else is seeing.

Yeah, game looks and sounds incredible. Cannot wait to get my hands on it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

You gave him a lot of time and effort. He is clearly not interested in this game and I have never seen him say anything good about a Sony exclusive without making a jab. It's an open world game so of course it's going to have open world elements.Same thing with RDR2 and Zelda when they release.
