SIXAXIS Discontinued

 

 

We all pretty much figured that the SIXAXIS was on its last legs now that the DualShock 3 is hitting shelves. And today a Sony rep has confirmed with MTV that this is indeed the case. The SIXAXIS is not more.

Sixaxis will no longer be offered after it's completely sold through at retail (likely by the summer timeframe).
Our guess is that manufacturing has ceased (or ceased some time ago) and that it's just a matter of shipping out dusty boxes from warehouses at this point. Our other guess is that those who don't care about rumble can soon be on the lookout for some bargain bin SIXAXIES. Is that the official plural? Did we ever have a chance to finalize that?

and all I have to say is thank God.

Lets get this straight: this isn't a bash on the PS3, it's a bash on the piece of crap SIXAXIS.

That thing just feels like a light plastic toy with motion controls that almost no games actually use in a good way or at least in a way that isn't better done by analog controls. Too bad it only took them a year and a half to realize that rumble isn't last gen and while the console is a toy, the controller shouldn't feel like a McDonald's toy.

And since when did MTV start getting all these game news stories?  They've already ruined music I don't want them to ruin games too.

You know the DS3 still has sixaxis control.  Anyways, I can't wait to pick up a couple when they go on clearance.  I couldn't care less about rumble.

Is that an old picture?  It doesn't say sixaxis on the top.

With how expensive controllers are for all consloes I'd much rather buy me another sixaxis from the bargain bin.

I don't care about rumble so If I get this for like a 1/3rd of the price of the Dualshock 3 then I am happy with that

Actually DS3 was annonced at TGS between the 20th and the 23rd of September 2007, so it only took them 10 months to notice. It took them a year and a half to release it in North America though.
