Most threads are opinion around here... Going to have to play in VR. Curiosity peaked.

My wife claims to not be able to tell a difference between SD and HD (she's crazy)... But she sure perked up the first time I put on some 4k HDR content...

It's not your PC that's not capable of HDR, it's your monitor. So even with your explanation the thread title is false.

It's not really the PC's fault that you bought the wrong monitor.

Can you find me a PC or monitor capable of HDR...  That is out, RIGHT NOW?  Or a video card that supports it?  Or a game for PC that supports it?

GOOD LUCK.

It's not really your fault you cant do research...  Or is it?

Look at you!!!! You changed your post!

I'll agree, it's not the PC.. But you just run out and find a game that supports it on PC...  Or a monitor...

Trust me, I know what a PC is capable of, I make my living off them...  IF there was an affordable HDR monitor out for PC with games that support it, I would own it...  Right now, you have no point.

They didn't even encounter any monsaters, but already scared the crap out of each other, for no good reason. xD

Also, comments like these make me intrigued about playing the game in VR:

I watched momochi played this last night. His reaction during the bathroom scene is perhaps his most hilarious twitch streams ever.

Wow....

Assuming you did not put expensive garbage into your PC, your PC can already do HDR. Granted, there aren't any good HDR monitors out there yet but nothing stops you from plugging your PC into your TV. The first high end HDR monitors are coming this year.

Thread title is still false. It should be "Good TV > bad monitor".

I own an HDR capable PC and a high end HDR TV but I would never plug my PC into my TV because the input lag on all 4K TVs is garbage.

Epic fail there buddy...  Can you play RE7 in HDR on a PC?  Right now? With a TV?

I don't know why you can't afford good tech but my TV is perfect for playing games and my monitor is Gsync capable at >75Hz...   I didn't name the tech, but it's obvious you don't know what high end is...

Yes, it can do HDR with the right hardware...  But your still not playing the PC version of RE7 in HDR...  In the future you will...  BUT... NOT... RIGHT... NOW....

I'm happy for you that you can live with garbage input lag, I can't. I'm used to 1ms at 144Hz Gsync so no way I can play on my TV with 20ms and even more when HDR is turned on.

I've long plugged all my consoles into a monitor because of that reason. My UE65JS9500 is now only my video display.

And yes, you are technically correct that you currently cannot play RE7 in HDR on a PC right now, though that got more to do with the fact that the software doesn't support it. Your GPU is perfectly capable of HDR games. And HDR is coming this year to monitors, Windows 10 and many more games. So if anything your thread is just premature.

You said PC cannot support HDR, that is factually wrong. It's the software and monitors that can't.

Right... I get you want to argue semantics....  The PC supports it...  but it still can't do it right? Because of other things?  Is that, factually correct (monitor, etc)?

Fact... To me... At this juncture in inferior PC technology...  I think the PC version of RE7 LOOKS LIKE CRAP, compared to a $250 console with the right TV...

How does that 1ms response time at 144Hz help you in this game?  Smooth as butter right?

Support is a loose word, I get there is more involved...  If I wanted to start a flame war, I would state that my PC is better than yours.
