What mistakes did happen last year? What is this fiasco that happened?

Off the top of my head: They had a Saturday spot instead of the big Sunday one; The matches were smooshed together; Many were forced to play well past Midnight and expected to wake up early Saturday for the final day of matches; Disorganized; Not enough set ups;

I'm a little forgetful on the details but it seems about right

Ah, ok. That doesn seem missmanaged. :/ Hopefully they get it right this time.

Also, damn Pokken has made quite the push. ARMS has already fallen back, not that it ever had a real chance to begin with, but it would have been fun to see on EVO.

Around the Network

ARMS is coming for blood.

Pokken Tournament is the first to reach $5,000 USD

WTF, I cant believe Pokken is actually competing with UMvC3 and KI right now
Not surprised the boring, typical games are winning though -_-
Also this is all the proof I need to see that competitive Mortal Kombat is indeed a joke

Melee not being at the arena seems to be a weird choice, considering the game gets more views than Wii U, but I guess this is EVO's of compensating Wii U players last year.

Melee getting more views than Smash 4 is a reality as of now, but one that might be a bit twisted. It's obvious Melee inherently gets a lot more viewers than Smash 4 by mere virtue of being part of the finals day - so this year we get to see how Smash 4's viewership truly compares.

There's plenty of Smash-focused tournaments where Smash 4 has more viewers than Melee, as well as many tournaments where Melee dominates. The same applies to players. In the end, it's just hard to determine which game is more popular at the moment - but what definitely is a fact, is that Smash 4 has more competitive players in the biggest tournaments, including Evo.

Melee has always have more views than Sm4sh, Genesis 4 is a good example...

Someone Donated $1,000 USD to bring the Pokken donations to $6,010!

Holy moley the Pokken community wants to stomp out the competition

Not really because last year S4 really cut Melee down with more views and players at large tournaments like Evo, Canada Cup, CEO etc... Melee does better at Smash specific tournaments but it seems at more diverse tournaments S4 has pulled ahead, this is likely a key reason why Melee has been moved to the Saturday slot.

Genesis is a Melee centric event, and it promoted Melee as its main event ahead of Smash 4. It's only bound to get more attention.

There have been plenty of tournaments where Smash 4 had more players and viewers.

It's not very easy to tell which gets more views. At tier 2 events (nationals), Smash 4 might get more views. At super majors, Melee destroys Smash 4 viewership, unless Smash 4 is the final event, in which case is pretty close.

I do think Smash 4 deserves the Sunday spot on Mandalay Bay, simply because it's the second biggest game. It doesn't make sense to have a bracket with more players be shorter than one with less players.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
