Forums - Gaming Discussion - Prediction: Xbox One will outsell Switch 3 to 1 this year

Not going to happen. I think the XBO will outsell the Switch, but not by 3:1. Not even 2:1. The XBO is going to probably be flat YOY, possibly up some. I'm guessing 8.5M-9.5M. We already know the Switch is going to sell its initial 2M shipment. Unless Nintendo is completely incompetent with supply or the Switch utterly bombs, it will definitely pass 3M and at least hit 5M. If Nintendo gets a some small discounts during the holidays, I'm guessing 7M-8M.

Judging by your other predictions here, this confirms Switch to outsell Xbone 9:1 in 2017.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Xbox One does outsell Switch this year. But by 3 to 1? Just can't see Switch selling that poorly and/or Xbox selling that well.

Analysts are predicting 5m+ sales of the switch this year.

I doubt the xbox one sells 15m units, and is able to 3 : 1 the switch.

I think the Xbox One is abit overtracked on VGCs, but its clear its avg pr year is ~9m or abit under.

Scorpio isnt going to make the Xbox One suddenly sell twice as many units as normal this year.

Competition from Playstation 4 is higher than ever (so many games you cant play on xbox), and the Switch is releaseing.

Xbox One sales will probably be down YoY in 2017.

There is a lot of AAA games you will be able to play on your xbox that you can't play on your ps4 or switch too. Not to mention not only is all the games going to run and play better, but you're more than likely going to get a pc version of most of the games you buy so that way down the road if you have a decent laptop/computer you can play the games no matter where you at.

Sea of theives, Crack down 3, Forza 7, State of decay 2, Halo Wars 2 this year alone. Not including games we got previous years as well. Also, it was hinted that we may get a few unannounced games for xbox scorpio later this year to show case scorpio.

Switch vs Xbox is an interesting comparison.

Switch drops a bomb like Xenoblade or even bigger Pokemon with price drops and bundles and it is over.

As long as Nintendo doesn't restrict the Switch I think the ps4 having the same third-party games as Microsoft will be draining them until the Scorpio shows up.

There is a bit of an overlap between the Nintendo and Xbox audiences when it comes to young (< 18)/casual gamers. Minecraft has sold more on the XB1 than PS4 in the US even before Microsoft bought the IP. Same applies to the LEGO games. Nintendo is known for appealling to the young demographic.

As for 3rd parties, we have to consider Sony having marketing rights to big 3rd party games such as Destiny 2 and RDR2. The marketing deal with Destiny 1 paid huge dividends for Sony.

You should not count unlisted or rumored games.

To sum up. only 3  games in this year.

JRPGfan is right.  This thread's  prediction is wrong.

Xbox one ? No way.

But the ps4 will probably do it.

They're slated for this year as far as we know.
