Switch vs Xbox is an interesting comparison.

Switch drops a bomb like Xenoblade or even bigger Pokemon with price drops and bundles and it is over.

As long as Nintendo doesn't restrict the Switch I think the ps4 having the same third-party games as Microsoft will be draining them until the Scorpio shows up.

There is a bit of an overlap between the Nintendo and Xbox audiences when it comes to young (< 18)/casual gamers. Minecraft has sold more on the XB1 than PS4 in the US even before Microsoft bought the IP. Same applies to the LEGO games. Nintendo is known for appealling to the young demographic.

As for 3rd parties, we have to consider Sony having marketing rights to big 3rd party games such as Destiny 2 and RDR2. The marketing deal with Destiny 1 paid huge dividends for Sony.
