Forums - Nintendo - Switch Price Differences

Russia: 22499₽ (~350€/380$). A little bit cheaper than XB1S and PS4 Slim which both are 26990₽. It is based on the official Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft prices.

That's price is a straight conversion as $300 is £250, add VAT and it comes to 279, UK is actually paying the exact same price Americans are when they pay with tax.

How does adding 20% on top of £250 come to £279? If its £250 before VAT it would be £300 with 20% added.  It would have to be something like £232 plus VAT to get to £279.

RRP so stores are selling it at that price much like how games are £50 but are often sold for less, some products also get reduce VAT rates.

Japan should be the cheapest market for a Japanese company as they won't lose money due to exchange rate considerations. It's been a serious issue for Japanese corporations for awhile.

And much cheaper logistic. If Switch is produced in China is much cheaper to transport it to Japan from there than to Europe and NA. If Switch is produced in Japan, well, it`s even cheaper.

A good question here. Nintendo outsource their console manufacturing to some chinese company like Foxconn or they have their own factories?

Foxconn manufactured the Wii U.  I haven't heard anything about the Switch but there is little reason to assume it's not outsourced to China.

It's not as simple as currency conversion, but it is true that it's the most expensive in the EU :/

The Switch really should be 299€ including tax in europe. Especially considering Zelda has to be purchased seperately and is a whopping 70€.
A Switch+game puts you back 400€.
