£279.99 is the UK. Pass on that one.

That's price is a straight conversion as $300 is £250, add VAT and it comes to 279, UK is actually paying the exact same price Americans are when they pay with tax.

True. We aren't being shunned like usual for price differences. Which is a pleasant surprise.

Its just, I can't justify paying well over £300 for console and game for such outdated hardware.

I'll probably buy a Switch when Nintendo releases a bundle with Mario/Zelda for £250.

This thing is gonna sell like cakes in Japan at that price. As for the rest, 300$ is fine but 330€ is pushing it too much, they should get it down to 300€ hopefully before holidays.

A bit subjective though because what portable gaming device has what the Switch has, it may not be as powerful as PS4 but it's not really a dedicated home console to begin with as portability and home play are just features to it, it's also leagues above what's in the portable market right now.

X1 is nearing a two year Old SOC. If it was a X2.. maybe it would be better value.

But then you have game prices in the UK..

£60 for Zelda.

And then the accessories

£60 for the Classic Controller..

Nah. I'll wait.

It's not really X1 though it's a custom Tegra chip most likely based between the two, people just use X1 to try and speculate performance.

It's too expensive for me and I'm sure many others. Nintendo needs to work on getting prices down across the board IMO.

Japan should be the cheapest market for a Japanese company as they won't lose money due to exchange rate considerations. It's been a serious issue for Japanese corporations for awhile.

How does adding 20% on top of £250 come to £279? If its £250 before VAT it would be £300 with 20% added.  It would have to be something like £232 plus VAT to get to £279.

And much cheaper logistic. If Switch is produced in China is much cheaper to transport it to Japan from there than to Europe and NA. If Switch is produced in Japan, well, it`s even cheaper.

A good question here. Nintendo outsource their console manufacturing to some chinese company like Foxconn or they have their own factories?
