Yeah I do but when the game is too concentrated on the story then sometimes it's not that fun.

I think gameplay is more important myself, but I do like good stories, and quirky stories, those are good too.

It depends on the game.
For RPGs, story matters alot for me. That is why I typically go for jRPGs rather than wRPGs. I find wRPGs to be too open ended and based on doing quests. However, Mass Effect was better. But I love the linear structure of jRPG games.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Is it just Rrod?

Well he hates WRPGs. Most of the better rpgs on the 360 are WRPGs, while the best/only Jrpgs are on the 360 for now though. The wii I believe is going to get the most japanese support , and souriku made a good choice choosing it for JRPGs.
@kinfofwale
I disagree bioshock should be included in critical storyline
truly depends on the gametype, but most rpg's and adventure games need a good one. I like cut scenes and i think devil may cry 4 and uncharted had some of the best of all time, but i think mgs 4 will hold that title. but i also like how bioshock and cod 4 did there storytelling all in game. Assassins creed also had some really interactive cut scenes being able to freely walk around in most of them and activating the glitches.
depending no the game they need to handle cutscenes differently. rpg's should use them liberally, if they tell the story through cutscenes. games broken into levels should use them around bosses, the beginning, and end. other games need to be careful because it can throw off pacing.
if the story sucks (ie ninja gaiden) then their should be as few of cutscenes as possible so there is more gameplay per hour. the cutscenes should only be used for set up.
It is very important..
If the game lenght is long the story must be really good.
Good story may save even mediocre game and lift it in A class game.
Or a very good game which story is rubbish cant`t enjoy much.
Also there different game types that need good story to keep going.
Worth to mention is how the story is told..Is it talking heads, in-game conversation, or you read it it games interface (aka Metroid,Bioshock)
In a shooter or similar, the story rates at about an 8/10. Setting, artwork, atmosphere is every bit as important.
In an RPG, story rates at a 15/10. Artwork would then rate at a 9/10 and setting is usually fantasy. If the story sucks or the artwork doesn't draw me in then what is the point of an RPG? I got to feel that I give a d*** about the world if they want me to save it.
Depends on the type game, for a mario game the story doesn't really matter but for Zelda games I think its quite important.
