Forums - Nintendo - Where came this idea Nintendo only cares about Japan and rest of the world is just an extra?

I`ve read this online many times already. That Nintendo only cares about Japanese sales and if they have to do something in detrimental of the rest of the world  to save their japanese sales they will do it no caring about revenue and profits because Japan is what matters to them.

There`s any interview or statement where any Nintendo important person directly said that? Because it`s very illogical considering Nintendo is and open traded company, and even if it wasn`t, it`s a company, and they want to make profits, where they come from should not matter.

Around the Network

There profit margins are obscene, always backfires. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo provided more support in Japan after the switch struggles in the west of the world.

Just an opinion that more people are thinking to be true

Nintendo definitely cares about rest of world since a huge portion of their profits come from there

A person or company can be interested in their own heritage more than others and still very much care about them all.

Where wouldn`t that idea come from? Looks pretty obvious to me that their main idea when developing both consoles and games is `what do Japanese people want?` and if that also happens to be popular elsewhere that`s just a happy bonus for them.

But Nintendo always want to be as universal as possible, considering nationality, gender and age. They want to make games for everybody, wherever a 10 years old boy from New York, a 25 year old woman from London and a 40 years old man from Tokyo, can play and have a good time. This seems to me that it`s much more their focus being universal than pleasing japanese only.
