The Wii will most likely be ahead of the PS3 this week due to the drop of the 60 gig in Japan which caused the PS3 sales to lower substantially along time ago. However, it should be noted that the PS3 is the most steady console this generation with predictable sales. Also it should be noted that when the PS3's sales increase, they STAY increased to a certain interval occasionally increasing and lowering a very small amount FROM that interval that it has reached. Of course there will be slight changes if another console maker puts out a big game from time to time, and obviously holidays mix it up too. But overall, steady as she goes seabiscuit.

I think X misunderstood the majority of comments I have seen about the effect a particular game has on sales.
In general no ONE TWO or even THREE games will have a dramatic effect on LIFETME sales. Whenever a huge game is released there is a large chance for a TEMPORARY sales increase lasting upto 3 weeks at the most but usually only 1-2 weeks. Sometimes big games do not cause sales bumps such as Lair or other duds. Games like GTA4 will cause massive sales bumps for the 360 and the PS3. Halo 3 caused a massive jump for the 360 but it didn't last more than a month.
This is not a knock on any system but just stating it for what it is. FF XIII MGS 4 DQ IX and so on will cause noticeable sales bumps but not have an effect on the overall outcome of this gen by themselves.

 Don't shoot the messenger. I was just saying what XBrawlX meant. As for lightning in a bottle even for a demo, 374k(GT5P software sold) in others alone isn't impressive?

I would agree if PS3 stays like this next week. But too hard for it to be true, since there is no major release in neither of the regions.

It's so funny to see the same people who were calling GT5P nothing more than a demo turn around and call it a huge game and say that it's not being impressive.

Really, guys, don't remember how GT5P is just a demo? Should a system's hardware sales see a 15% (while everyone else is dropping, nonetheless) over a mere demo? I mean, it's just a demo, right guys?

Yeah... either the game wasn't a big deal and the increase it gave is sufficient (though not impressive) or you guys just like to trash-talk the PS3 no matter what it does and somehow revel in trying to make it look like Sony hasn't done anything to fix the poor start they had. Either be honest or quit talking, 'cause many of you have made it clear you'll tell any lie to make your hated console look bad.

Back on topic this does bode quite well for the PS3.  If GT5:P released in just Others can give it enough of a bump to bring it to Wii levels than MGS4/FF13/GT5 each should give it a larger boost, probably even better than the boost Halo gave the 360 which beat Wii WW for 2 weeks.

Wii was massive in America a couple weeks ago and was really low last week, no suprise. Look for this weeks numbers to be big. My Costco has not had Wiis in several weeks and just got some this week.
