MS needs to step up their game.Their first party selection was mediocre at best already. Now it is looking worse by the day.

I get the feeling they want to be a Steam of sorts with them uniting the PC and XBox parts.I just dont see many people interested in it.

Like King said, they've shown time and time again, they don't care about getting better.

And thats sad really, since they were starting to get my attetion with games like scalebound.Oh well, back to buying more Nintendo games.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

When I did a game by game review of what was shown last E3, Scalebound was my 2nd worst grade. Only Final Fantasy was worse. The game just hasn't looked good at all in demos.

Maybe they spread themselves too thin, like Bilbo Baggins. Butter scraped over too much bread. Some of their games this gen have just been awful.

Since MS owns the IP they sure as hell need to bring it back

Not sure about that. Eurogamer says "It's unclear whether Scalebound could still be revived by Platinum". This sentence makes me think that Platinum owns the IP and will decide the future of the game...

How many studio's does platinum have? Aren't they making nier automata as well?

1 studio with about 200 employees. Thats enough for at least 3 development teams (one being for smaller projects).

Why? Another studio will end up doing it differently and after 2 studios it will end up being released as a mess. No, it had to be PG or nothing and MS chose nothing.

Maybe MS can use this time to start some real home grown studios instead of buying games. This will solve their problems faster than trying to save a game that can't be saved.

If this is really true ... wow ... incredible !!! That sucks @ Microsoft.
I see one thing and speak my thoughts.: Xbox One: Features Features and all games on PC. PS4: Games Games and many Exclusives. This feeling conveys Microsoft. Exactly that is the reason why an Xbox for me no longer comes into question. So...my tip: Xbox Onlys, buy a PS4 and have fun with all the japanese games and blockbuster! It's time to put a sign - for the gamers!

Say it aint so.

I will not go.

Turn the lights off.

Carry me... On and on,  and on and on on...

OT: Very bad news for Microsoft.  A big blow for their line up for sure.

But at the same time their biggest franchises (excluding Forza) are on the decline, and they can't continue on with basically no first party. M$ is in a really tough spot right now. I still say they should keep tossing money at smaller titles like recore and Ori and hope some turn out great. An added benefit is that those smaller projects should be portable to Windows Phone soon enough, which would tie into their whole universal Windows thing quite well.

i agree. Halo, Forza and Gears wont be able to sustain them forever. of course they can always sign new deals with second party publishers to make new games. but if they do, they need to find the root of the problems they had that has made them have so many failures and very little successes. (outside of forza, gears and halo).

I feel like maybe Halo can make a comeback, but only if they find a way to diversify the IP somehow... and make that damn movie!

But yeah, M$'s critical and commercial track record this gen has been shockingly disappointing, to say the least. I'm sure their executives are really scratching their heads at this point. *sigh* At least Cuphead looks good, if that counts.

Shinobi saying Crackdown 3's development also isn't going too hot either, although not as bad as Scalebound's http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=227956027&postcount=1952

No. Its alluding to fact of uncertainty about who's keeping IP rights.
