Forums - Microsoft - Confirmed: Scalebound Cancelled

Rumor from a very unknown source

This guy claims he knows someone involved with the game and Kamiya himself, and he's putting the blame on Microsoft 100%. Says Microsoft gave Platinum Games some unachievable milestones, denying them resources and withholding pay.

If true that's basically exactly what happened with Phantom Dust.

Around the Network

I am concerned about the trent - Fable Legends, Phantom Dust, Scalebound - but I am less concerned that SB itself is gone. Everytime we saw it it looked worse. Every time we went through a trade show without hearing about it I grew more concerned. Clearly something was off in its development.

People like to say MS doesn't take risks with games, thats always been false. Unfortunately when they do take risks they tend to pull the plug when things go wrong. I prefer Sony's approach with failed experiments. They spend the extra little bit to finish development so we can at least see what they were trying to achieve (The Order, Lair etc).

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I think Square Enix could be the new publisher and then the game with another name can appear on PS4. But only if enough players write the developer and Square Enix. Would be better than if it does not appear anymore. Now it's up to everyone, writes the developer. The success chances for the game would be good then :)

Thats not how it works. Thats not how any of this works.

Why did they make the XB1s and planning on releasing scorpio if they dont care about consoles?

They're just keeping face to try and make the transition as smooth as possible.

The PS5 Exists.

It was looking concerning. It was announced in 2014, and it was being delayed again and again. Of course people are going to blame Microsoft, but if the game is costing way too much money, then sometimes it just isn't worth it. Sad to see this happening again in 2017, but I want to hear the full story before we blame Microsoft.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

"if true?" :P

This is Microsoft.  I don't need a rumor to believe that.  I would be more stunned if it isn't true.

Also, just another bullet point on my list of evidences MS is seriously considering and moving into a position to leave the console race.

What exactly is that suppose to mean?

Scalebound being cancelled should mean more sales for Cuphead which is a good thing because that game actually looks original and fun unlike Scalebound which looked generic and boring.

Yeah? The cancellation of an open world action RPG is going to mean more sales for a side scrolling platformer? Were they even supposed to come out in the same quarter?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
