yes it would have been significantly more expensive by adding 2 extra buttons

Would the GameBoy Advance have been better with 4 face buttons? | |||

Would 2 more buttons really make the console that much more expensive? I mean, I'm sure it probably would have considering other devices at the time still had 2 buttons as well. Starfox was sorely missing on GBA though. I doubt it was because of buttons though. L and R could be used for steering or other weapons, etc in addition to AB.

Hmm, doesn't look too bad. I probably would have bought it if I knew about it.

definitely, GBA launched at $100, if it had two more buttons it would probably be $150.

Damn, $25 per button, lol! What kind of times were those! I guess it had more to do with the space of the pcb than anything right?

Honestly Nintendo was still dominating the handheld market at that point with virtually no competition to speak of. Plus the 2-face button interface didn't seem to negatively impact any of the software on the system.
Of course, the Nintendo DS buttons are great and made it popular to use the extra buttons like x to open the menu rather than pressing start
