By denying the holocaust he is trivializing and denying the suffering those people have gone through. That means he has absolutely no regard for them. You have to be a pretty heartless individual to willfully ignore a proven fact and treat it as a conspiracy.

He said he supported the start of the war which from the start was a war of aggression which means he thinks it's ok to just attack and kill other people to further your agenda.

There is a lot of hate in this individual and just because he tries to be as politically correct as he can be it doesn't mask his true thoughts and intentions. Sorry, I don't give benefits of doubts to holocaust deniers.

Apparently posting a slightly more naked picture in a thread that is already full of borderline softcore porn is a matter of black and white.

Endorsing and trivializing the killing of innocents is apparently not a black and white issue.

First port of call, fix the ban screen and setup an email for ban appeals, give that email on the ban screen, simply saying "contact a mod to appeal" is useless if there's no way for a banned user to do so.

Being the one that issued the warning, I don't disagree with your frustration. I find Holocaust denial to be one the most repugnant beliefs out there, for the reasons you've already stated. We considered a ban in this case at first, but chose against it based on (a) his clean history, and (b) his post being born out of ignorance rather than ill intent. Speaking personally, I dislike policing political opinions unless the user is openly spreading hate directly, and his posts had crossed the line just enough to be unacceptable. I can see how this can be subjective though, which is why it was also discussed as a group beforehand.

If that user continues to spread that sentiment here, he will be moderated more severely, as his warning didn't offer any wiggle room. Perhaps it's a weakness in the progressive moderation system, but I found it defensible in this case.

There's quite a few examples of certain things not being punished, you can brand all religious people as uneducated fools, no ban. Meanwhile make fun of a VIDEO GAME CONSOLE and you are fecked.

When you're more likely to get a ban for making fun of a bloody game then attacking a religion or religious people somethings wrong.

To be fair, at least consoles exist.
