Pocky Lover Boy!

Its just too expensive to justify a purchase atm. At half the price i would already have bought one.
So Sony pulled a "Microsoft"? Don't know how anyone was expecting over 2 million sales from this thing. It has great potential for the future, but its too expensive. For $399, I can get a PS4 Pro instead of the PSVR. Needs to be under $200 in order to hit mainstream.
Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Shame about the Move dying. I seriously feel the pointer function in it and the WiiMote could have found a good use had they been tackled by devs.
Resident Evil 4 on the Wii benefits from the pointer function BEAUTIFULLY!

It's actually almost too easy with the Wii-mote. Not the Wii-mote's fault for being so great though. Wish they designed the game with pointer controls from the start so they could have had more enemies and such.

Those examples didn't have the problem of lack of compelling content, so things such as more advanced technology, higher internet speeds and a better user interface were the hurdles to overcome. Those things are a lot easier accomplished than motivating dozens of companies to invest in content production. |
Lack of compelling content is a matter of opinion. But true, it's a new tech with a fledgling userbase, thus it won't see CoD type budgets for a while. Consoles didn't start out as multi million selling devices in the first few weeks. Nor did they start out with multi million dollar budgets for games. There's plenty smaller companies motivated to give VR a try, plus bigger content is coming too.
Take a look here http://uploadvr.com/ Doesn't look like it's failing.
Or check out the upcoming games list

I see plenty motivation, and plenty interest in pretty expensive peripherals.
Has a racing wheel accesory ever sold as fast? They're still around and supported. (Unfortunaly so well that Dirt Rally, Assetto Corsa and Project Cars can't even be decently played without them...)
To me the signs point to an evolution in games/entertainment, rather than the next gimmick. Adoption rate closer to how 4K tvs were/are entering the market instead of Wii Sports or Kinect. Gaming on a screen won't go away, DVD is still here too, but it will slowly grow and eventually become a new standalone form of entertainment.
To me, it's much more exciting to be an early adopter into VR than 4K. Both are still moving targets, with hdmi 2.1 just announced and dynamic high dynamic range lol, same with VR. Standalone headsets are the future, lighter, 4k, 8k, inside out tracking, pupil tracking, foveated rendering. Yet there's already a lot more fun to be had than watching a handful of HDR movies and play slightly sharper games, at a fraction of the price of a 4K HDR tv...
PSVR has had a great start. The experience and available content exceeded my expectations. Ofcourse I'm very hungry for more. It's so dull to go back to gaming on a screen now :/

2 months, but what does that matter? The writing is on the wall. |
lol what do you mean "what does it matter"? it came out two months ago and its 400 dollars and can go up to 600 with a camera and move controller bundle (i bought this one) and its supply constrained like wtf did you expect it to sell in 2 months? also sony has said its doing well so you're pulling shit out of your ass. what you're saying is the type of shit that gets bumped a year or two from now and you'll look dumb because you're like "the writings on the wall" for a brand new product that we have yet to get official sales numbers for

That's because VR is a big deal. It always would have arrived "too soon" unless you had multiple media conglomerate/corporations magically agreeing to all at once push for VR. That wasn't gonna happen though, so instead we're getting the first wave of companies making the plunge and laying the groundwork moving forward. It is too soon, but that's out of necessity. Tech has reached a level where the end result has become acceptable to the consumer. It's only up from here |
Pure spin, though I believe your sincere about this you are woefully wrong. When VR fails, which it will, it won't make an appearance for a good few years again. Companies become risk adverse when something fails.
No 3d spec currently in UHD Blu-ray for a reason.
Just look at Kinect, that was a success and the games were Shite.
It's so not going to go anywhere it's not even close.

For October it was Batman. Rez Infinite, Batman and Thumper ended up in Eurogamer's readers top 50. Quite an accomplishment for such a small userbase as it's mostly a popularity contest. Rez made the #30 spot, above Pokemon Go.
Stats, sales, no clue. Sony says on track, media says biggest loser, Sony was surprised at how many hours people were spending on VR.

So far, the most surprising thing for Shuhei about the way people are using PSVR is how long they’re spending in virtual reality. He was expecting the intensity of VR to keep the playtime low, “but looking at the data, people are spending many hours on the system every day.
Seems everybody is clueless about VR.

Sometimes you just know, deal with it. PSVR has had less fanfare than my last turd. It just hasn't resonated. This kind of thing needed to hit the ground running to get developers onboard for proper content, too late now. Too much risk of the investment that the developer needs to make to get the buzz going.
This reminds me of the Vita, it took years of people to accept it was a corpse and had been since day 1. Same as PSP etc.
I'd but it but I'm visually impaired so useless to me so I'm a bit relieved in a spiteful way.
