Forums - Gaming - Ex-Ubisoft Dev: Direct ports from PS4/Xbox One to Nintendo Switch not possible

That is entirely dependent on how the Switch Interfaces with the Dock.
If it uses USB, then No. There will be zero "Future proofing" with the dock. Period.

If it uses PCI-E or an interconnect that uses PCI-E, then it's entirely possible.

or Thunder bolt port

Thunderbolt is a port that piggybacks off PCI-E. Thus it falls into my statement already.

From the moment Swith was revealed, it was obvious it wasn't going to get strong PS4/Xbone multiplat support.

The whole point of Switch is that it's aiming to be its own thing rather than a third multiplat machine.

Did you get that from the prominent featuring of 3rd party multiplats in the announcement trailer?

which PS5/xbone game featured prominently?

Fair enough. Hope we get some new third party games instead of ports then. If we could get a Wii situation minus the shovelware, that would be great.

Are you serious about this? The Wii was a horrible system. Yes it sold great, but its most likely the worst nintendo system ever and the third party support was sad.

GTA

Skyrim

Fallout 3/ New Vegas

Battlefield series

Far Cry series

Assassisn Creed Series

Prototype

Crysis 2+3

Mass Effect triology

Read Dead Redemption

Final Fantasy

Batman Arkham series

Bioshock series

Dark Souls series

Metal Gear Solid games

Oblivion

Diablo

Max Payne

Watchdogs

Dishonored

Doom 3

Thief

Alien series

Dead Space series

Residnt Evil 5+6

Tomb Raider

Shadow of Mordor

Dragon Age

Borderlands

Mafia 2

Hitman

and much others were all released in ps3/xbox 360 but not on the wii. The wii was dead ~4 years after launch while PS3 and Xbox 360 had lived twice as long. I dont know many people that look back and say "the wii was a great console". 90% of the big AAA games skipped the wii and that was at 100 mio units sold.

Also its not like its not possible to achieve  enough necessary power in such a device.

The iPad Pro from 2015 already achieved 163 FPS in Trex 1080p GFX Benchmark (comparison: Nvidia Shield Tv 120 fps, Xbox One 390 fps).

1,5 years later + acitive cooling it would definitly be possible to double that performance  => so make an tablet that achieves ~300+ FPS in that benchmark.

With that performance the switch could handle all 900p xbox one games in 720p.

2K17 NBA and Skyrim Special Edition. Prominently.

You should watch the trailer, it's good!

I dont only play AAA games and I do my research to find games on every system I own. The Wii had several great exclusive games. If the Wii only had downgraded games from the PS3 and 360, then what would be the point...?

Nintendo's a game maker,  not a magician. XD There was only so much this thing was gonna be capable of due to its portable nature. +

Running AAA third party games in 720p on a tablet would/should be possible by now.

The iPad Pro from 2015 was about 35-40% of the power of an xbox one (according to graphics benchmarks like GFXbench).

graphical performance mostly doubles every 1-2 years (more effiecient architecture, more transistors on the chip, lower NM and so on).

So by now it should be possible to make a tablet ~70% of the power of an xbox one (especially if you add active cooling).

So all 900p games on xbox one should be able to run on 720p on such a tablet.

Im curios of powerfull apples new ipad pro with the a10xFusion chip will be (release is spring 2017) to see if im right.

So had the wii u. Nintendos exklusive cant compete against all those AAA third party games (+ you have great exclusives on ps4/xbox one as well).

If the Wii actually would be as powerfull as the xbox 360 but with wiimotes, I think it would be definitly a better system (even if it hadnt sold as much). Playing Skyrim with the wiimote back in 2010 sounds like a great concept for me and shooters were very great to play as well.

Sure, but then the Wii wouldnt have gotten many of the great games it got. The draw was that it was cheap to develop for.

NBA 2k17 could easily be the PS360 versions of the game. Or they could do what they did with WIi versions and have it completly different. (some sports games) and Skyrim is a port of a last gen game and we dont even know if its the Special Edition (which isnt all that anway)

So I havent seen any PS4/XBONE games on the Switch.
