Wow what terrible news to come home to, RIP. Was actually considering on watching Episode IV this morning too for a totally unrelated reason.

I watched last week in the day after seeying Rogue One =(

Now Rogue One´s ending tastes much more bitter to me somehow, a eeire feeling...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I don't get this current meme of shitting on 2016. Do people really think 2017 will even be an ounce better?

Newsflash: In 2017
- several celebrities will die
- wars will continue
- terror attacks will continue
- Trump won't just be an "elect" anymore
etc...

Stop blaming your shitty attitude on a single innocent year.

this.

and TBH Carrie Fisher's career was insanely empty besides the original Star Wars Trilogy. Its cute and all how people magically seem to love some celeb soooooo much when they pass, but before never even brought them up regularly

also newsflash: millions of people died today from starvation among other things, and no one will recognize or be aware of a ton of those cases as they happen in the middle of nowhere. Celebrities live great lives in terms of being well off and then they die in their 60s or 70s (oh the tragedy) and people act like its such a loss to society

lets focus on the kids dying from cancer. Just saying. Tired of this Hollywood obsessed society in which old celebrities passing gets massively more attention that genuinely tragic things involving kids passing away or people getting brutally murdered.

Its not as if death is some sort of unique thing. Everybody dies. Despite that the people who die who were on TV screens and had it great get all of the attention. ugh.

Fuck you, 2016.

And to the tactless ones who come in here to shit on the people who "blame" 2016... I'll refrain myself from speaking my mind. But I'm sure you can fill the blank.

Go do something about it, instead of whining here.

People get sad about the people they know [of]. If you want to make a difference, whining here and pointing fingers at people won't achieve shit.

Just another celebrity death that should remind everyone to stay away from hard drugs.

I was a big fan of her role in "When Harry Met Sally" and she was good on "Hannah and her sisters" one of my favourite Woody Allen films. She was also on a pretty interesting black comedy from David Cronenberg called "Maps to the stars" just 2 years ago.

But of course her role as Leia on 4 good Star Wars movies was simply legendary, I always loved the personality she gave to the character and it survivied on the collective mind of hundreds of milions of people around the world for decades, she was a complete icon, you can't blame people for feeling bad about this news, when an icon of yours pass away you can't help but feeling like someone you knew died.

She wasn't only an actress though, it's not like she didn't have anything to do all those years being a writer, so with four (five probably I guess with VIII) Star Wars movies and a handful of other movies of some popularity her career was perfectly fine.

I was just on her twitter yesterday. Trying to figure out her tweets, with no avail, and concluded that she has gone mental.

Then laughed at how she has such a great personality and would be cool to hang out with at her old age. Then hoping to be able to meet her at a Con one day.

And then this happened... 😐

Iconic deaths will only get worse with every new year. It's something that we'll have to deal with. A few decades from now there will be an icon dying almost every day. That's the result of the increased recorded history of the past century and especially the past few decades. 100 years ago famous people weren't quite as famous. They didn't have the kind of technology that we have now that can reach people on a much more personal level (like radio, TV or the internet). It was people like writers or athletes then but nowadays it's all of that plus so much more.

News from 2040-something: Iconic internet fuckwit DarksydePhil dies at 60, blames lag.

OT: IANAD but I'm pretty sure it was all the drugs that killed her, not the calendar.

Nope it was the  calendar she rolled it up to snort those drugs.
