Forums - Sales - Perhaps Wii is still supply constrained in Others

Really not constrained here in Scotland either! There has been Wii's in stock at most retailers constantly for months and even pre-owned ones for sale in Gamestation!

Supply constraints is a very vague term, I've never liked it. There are many shades of gray between excess supply and sold out.

At what point does supply constraint occur? Hell if I know.

When you don't have steady supply in stores. At least that's my opinion.

Even if that means they sell out early saturday, right before they get a shipment on sunday. Because it means people who come in late saturday who want to buy one can't because the supply is constrained.

I'd say it's still a little supply constrained. The Wii isn't as readily available here in the Netherlands as the Xbox360 or PS3, but most large retailers get regular shipments now.

PS3 should of outsold the Nintendo Wii this week with the launch of GT 5 Prologue. I am hoping the sales figures will be adjusted up for PS3 and more copies of GT 5 P recorded. Hang on next week will be better GT 5 P only available in Others for two days.

Here in the Netherlands it's still pretty "supply constrained".

My co-worker reserved one in early february and is still waiting. I believe that Nintendo is going to make a large delivery very soon with the release of Mario Kart and WiiFit closing in however.

My former account was HeSSeH, but I lost it.

What I don't understand is how it can possibly be constrained on basically the same continent its manufactured. Aren't the Wii consoles made in China? They can basically be shipped across the same land mass. I thought the only reason for constraints was because it has to be shipped overseas. Which is why its really only constrained in the US. takes 6-8 weeks to get here from overseas. I highly doubt there are any shortages anywhere other than the US.

It's not supply constraint in the shops in my area and not in German & Austrian online shops like amazon.de, wolfsoft.de, gameware.at, okaysoft.de...

Looking at online retailers and actual game dedicated retailers I would have to say it's not supply limited anymore.

I would say it is supply contrained, but not sold out. Like Fishy said, a very vague term.

But there is supply it appear, but I doupt it is ample, supply is probably slightly more demand, meaning that most of each shipment is sold before the next, but store are no longer selling out.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Don't know about the Eastern coast of Australia but in Adelaide the Wii is very hard to find. I haven't seen one one shelf for at least a month.
