"NVIDIA may be getting ready to launch a new version of its Android TV-based Shield console for gaming and media streaming. The original Shield hit the streets close to two years ago, and we’ve been seeing hints suggesting a new model is on the way for months."

Its supposed to use Parker, and likely to be much faster than say, the Tegra X1 that the Nintendo Switch is getting.

How messed up is that? Nvidia are actually a competitor to Nintendo, or plan on being soon.

More like they plan on being a general competitor in the gaming market in general.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

That awkward moment when Shield TV 2 is more powerful than the Switch, launches at the same time as Switch, and has better 3rd party support.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

This is just Nvidia continuing with what they've been doing. They're focused on bringing Android to the living room, more as competition to the Apple TV than a yet unreleased console. I mean, calling their Android TV boxes direct competition to the Switch is underselling the dedicated gaming nature of the Switch, don't you think? They are similar items appealing to totally different crowds.

Nvidia sells theirs on being more than just a tv box though, and their sales pitch is basically its a console.

So no I dont agree they sell to totally differnt crowds.

Its just nintendo is a strong brand name with a history and well known IPs.

I wish the switch was just the nvidia tv, it has an excellent controller and the specs are better lol, and its prob. much cheaper too, damnit

People again are freaking out, at least wait for Jan 12th...please.

How powerful does parker supposed to be?

The interesting thing is this device could see a lot of ports from Switch third party games.

I mean like for example the Skyrim devs ... you might as well port the Switch version here too. When you port it to Nvidia Shield it runs on Android too, so you could from there have a version that be sold on tablets/phones as well.

1.5TF half precision sounds pretty good for this.
