If true, I don't get why. What are they going to do with them? Better try to sell them to those that still want them, or just let the stores sell them for 100$ and get rid of the stock.

Why would Nintendo recall them instead of getting more sales until the Switch comes out? Their event thing isn't even till January 12th and the Switch doesn't come out until march. That is plenty of time to clear inventory, not recall them to get less sales... wtf

Good. It's just a waste of store space since Nintendo doesn't want to drop the price on it. And It's kind of an ridiculous when I see PS4/XB1 deals that are the same or cheaper than the Wii U.

Sales are slim and the Wii U's last holiday season is winding down. The article itself literally offers no detail except that the Wii U is getting harder to find in order to substantiate the rumor though, when in reality, it's likely because stock was slim to begin with and Nintendo isn't doing much if any production while stores aren't buying more stock.
At this point it makes no sense for Nintendo to recall the units. They already got at least some money for selling them wholesale, and it's cheaper just to let stores do whatever with the stock than it is to pay them to take the systems back. So I don't believe this rumor, but I do firmly believe that stores don't want extra Wii U's on hand after this holiday season ends if they can help it, while Nintendo is likely distributing minimal amounts of stock worldwide to try to keep shelfspace ready for the Switch launch in March.

They don't want people to buy the last Wii Us to play Zelda. And if the Switch's specs are true and the launch line up is full of Wii U's ports, then the end of life deals for the Wii U could be as interesting as the new console, so that's something to avoid for Nintendo. You want Nintendo games, buy a Switch. Wii what?
I'm surprised Nintendo doesn't just drop the final stock to clear it out. Seems like they will lose more money be recalling and potentially not selling at all.
Saw a similar discussion on GAF about this with Gamestop earlier today as well. I think it is all retailers.
This generation has been so much of a disaster for Nintendo it's almost unbelievable.
I like that they didn't price dump it. There is one thing that nintendo is still not... Bargain bin trash.

If the rumor is true, I'm looking forward to Nintendo pushing them into a landfill.
