New Shenmue 3 screenshots look fantastic, Ryu is back in action

Check out the latest screenshots of Shenmue 3 in action! The official Shenmue 3 kickstarter page has released three stunning new images of the hotly anticipated action-RPG as development prepares to enter full-scale production.

Shenmue 3 screenshots look dazzling

This latest batch of images showcases more battle action, as protagonist Ryu Hazuki gets into a ruck with some chaps in the middle of the market. We’re also treated to some environmental shots, plus a look at a toy version of one of Shenmue’s most iconic, ahem, vehicles. Check them out below.

Shenmue 3 is currently in development for the PlayStation 4 and PC. The game was announced by creator Yu Suzuki on stage at Sony’s E3 2015 press conference as a Kickstarter-funded project, which ultimately went on to drum up $6.3 million. The title also became the fastest videogame on the crowdfunding website to notch up one million dollars, which was accomplished in under 24 hours.

While developer Ys Net has yet to confirm a Shenmue 3 release date, Suzuki-san has said that the team is targeting a December 2017 launch window for the hotly anticipated sequel. With production only just ramping up full-scale however, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see the game pushed into 2018.

The Shenmue franchise debuted back in 1999 for the Dreamcast and received a sequel two years later. At the time, the original title was the most expensive videogame ever made, and while it was met with positive reviews, Shenmue failed to set tills alight despite attracting a strong cult following among gamers.

SEGA is not deciding against releasing Shenmue. It has the same exact problem that a lot of Japanese companies run into when updating games from that age. They not did have foresight ( and should not have been expected too) to have lifetime contracts, so a lot of product placement and VA's, they dont own the license for anymore. Back in the day a lot of those contracts were only made to last for a decade because the series was expected to be done in that timeframe.

Hate to be that guy, but it's not Ryu... it's Ryo Hazuki.

Ryu is the street fighter guy ;)

Seriously. I don't want to emulate the games, give me a remaster for PC ;(

Would definitely make for a nice collection, especially to help bring those up to speed on the series.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

looking like near the end of 2017 release.

what it needs is for the game to release and the remastered previous games be added as free bonus content to the finished game.

Come on let's not encourage the remaster money grabbing nonsense.

I like how Activision handled the Cod remaster with IW release. Yes you pay a little more to get the version kf the game that comes with the remaster, but I still prefer these things added with the new current game as opposed to being independent.
