I can't agree with, or to be honest even comprehend, your reasoning here. But it's true that you alluded to it earlier, and if this was all a mafia gambit I can't help but think you'd either have picked a more suitable role to fakeclaim or come out with a more detailed reason, especially after being questioned.
(I still don't get why you assume you would be so incredibly likely to get targeted constantly, prior to your roleclaim of course, when that's how your role is any worse than regular cop. And while your answer is fine in other ways, it does nothing as far as "why you thought you would be targeted a lot".)

Well, I'm not sure after review how close I actually came to getting lynched. What I was recalling was my response to someone calling out for vigilantes to hit me when I was the object of much suspicion and several votes.

Uh, wouldn't mafia want less time for deliberation? Most of those voting for an extension are probably less likely to be mafia.
Whoever's lynch goes through, if they are town, we should be looking towards those who voted for miz as potential mafia, this is a smarter strategy. From this point on anyone who unvotes miz should also be under suspicion since they just read this. That includes myself, if you all so choose.

Not that it is no big deal, but it's rarely better to say nothing and get lynched than claim and see what happens. I did say it's up to you to decide, and bomb is something that I would never claim. I'd either fakeclaim vanilla or possibly a role depending on how I played. That's one of the times it's okay to lie as town.

Can you explain if the lynch moves to spurge or Trucks and they flip town, that leads to miz voters as potential mafia?

They are trying to rush the end of the Day because they are bored or something. They clearly hated the time extension. It may not be very good town play but what makes you think it is evidence that they are scum?
