Forums - Gaming - Why go into threads for games/consoles you hate?

Why do you do it?

I'm insecure and need to... 29 26.13%

Because I'm entertaining. 19 17.12%

I'm secretly jealous of what I don't have. 13 11.71%

Your console really does ... 50 45.05%

Total:111

I generally don't. But I also don't hate any console. Because that's just silly. Consoles are plastic and circuitry. Wasting hate on that is silly.

To re-iterate. If you hate a console and feel the need to spread your opinion on it, you are silly.

I hate xbox, but it's still fun seeing the xbox threads. It provides a nice environment to see the positive side of something I dislike

More specifically, why go into a thread about something you don't like or don't want to buy and start bad mouthing or downplaying?

Seems like you've answered your own question. So since you already know the answer, why did you make this thread?

The other reason of course is when it's bad news about the game / console people like to wallow in some warm, fuzzy schadenfreude

1) To demostrate how edgy you are by wasting you time provoking people because that's funny, apparantly.

2) To critizice something and express your honest feelings.

Think that's all of 'em.

I'm now filled with determination.

Sorry, I don't think I've ever had much discussion with you, so I don't really remember what exactly you usually post. :D

There was a time when I was one of the most popular guys here. Almost won member of the year like twice ! Lately I just go with the flow and I stay under the radar. I used to have people calling me an Xbox fanboy via XBL and a PlayStation fanboy via PSN.

Really, I just buy everything and wherever I saw a one sided argument, I'd jump in and counter. Usually with facts. Sometimes, just being an asshole. I was a PlayStation owner that hated Sony or an Xbox owner that attacked Xbox.

But really, I was an undercover Nintendo fan the whole time!

Hey, I do remember you quite well, it's just your posts, opinions, and all that stuff that I don't. Thanks for the introduction though! Now I know you were a triple agent.

Because I enjoy raining on other people's parade /s

On a serious note, I don't hate certain games, and if it's a game I definitely don't like then I rarely go into a forum for it or speak on it. But for those games that I'm interested in, and after playing them, their betas, or their demos and finding fault in there, I feel it's beneficial to post not only the good, but the bad as well so people who are still on the fence can get both sides. It's about a balanced opinion for me.

i live life by a few simple rules. one of those rules states "you will either love something before you hate it or hate something before you love it"

and it holds true so many times. when i hate something, it does me a lot of good just to be vocal about why i hate it. that way i can have a bit of closure, which could lead me to trying it for a second time and seeing the good in it. alternatively i could love something for years before realizing its flaws and then by going on a rant i am able to move on and blissfully forget about it. being vocal about your problems just help

Hate borderline is close to Love. So when people hate the product then it's close to Loving the product.

I don't read or comment on Nintendo or Sony forums. Negative opinions are ok of course but if you comment about something you're not interested in or was never going to play it then why would anyone give a crap about your view?

Good, so whenever we see you in Nintendo or Sony threads we can't kick you out of there?

You may or may not like, but bringing person past and moderation history in a thread is against the rules. So it making an echochamber or not because of it is a matter to discuss with the headmod.

That shouldn't come under scrutiny. it doesn't outside of the forums, especially when you are trying to tell others about how a eprson acts. I find it the most dishonest aspect of a human, tod eny others being told of someone's habits and history, basically lying about who they are for them.

Discussing with "headmod" doesn't do anything either.

I feel sorry for you and even agree with your points, but unfortunatelly only the mods can change the rules and they are the people we have to talk about it.

First reason is that I have to because I'm a moderator.

BOOM!

OT: This is like asking why people use Facebook if they "hate it".

Well, maybe he is doing a psy research.

It is possible to give constructive criticism and to facilitate arguments about why you feel a particular piece of hardware or software has shortcomings, and to do so in a respectful manner, allowing for rational and thoughtful discussion with the inclusion of varying opinions.

That being said, it does seem like there are a lot of whiny butthurt trolls out there who need to get a life.

But your last line is the exact opposite of your first paragraph, and a demonstration of the very thing you are apposing.

Bolded part demonstates the opposite of constructive criticism, to be specific.

Nope. They are complementary. Being, you can either do positive criticism OR be a troll.

It's better to hate a piece of plastic than a person man, because the first you won't hurt with your feelings
