Forums - Gaming - What´s next for UEDA, Gen Design and Sony !?

He is yet to deliver a bad quality game so I doubt Sony would want to let go of their partnership.
As for whats next, who knows, his games are always somewhat unique.

Sounds like Journey.

Ueda is going to be a very interesting dev to follow.

I would love to see a game like Journey. And by that I don't mean a Journey-clone, but a game that is breathtaking in similar ways, both emotionally and visually.

I meant more in that he wants to make a game that is accessible by way of control input. That was a core Journey design philorophy.

Well, Ueda has remarked that he'd like to make a game like Half-Life.

"Usually, you have to incorporate storytelling with constraints, but the way...[Valve] implemented constraints was something different that I enjoyed, compared to other games."

"[If] ...you're in the middle of play, in the middle of the game, then all of a sudden you're in a cut-scene [and] you're not supposed to operate at all - that's not the kind of game I want to do. If there is some other techniques that will not give them that kind of feeling, that's something I want to implement."  http://kotaku.com/5374207/ico-creator-keen-to-make-first-person-game-update

I think he means that he wants to make a game that is narratively driven without needing cut-scenes, so not specifically like Half-Life.

Great find, regardless.

Yeah but judging from Ueda's other games, a game that presents an emotional story without spoonfeeding it to you doesn't seem so far-fetched. But those two together and bam, Journey-esqu game right there.

Whatever he's working on, Sony can't let him go away like they did thatgamecompany.

Ueda, Kojima, Jenova Chen, Yu Suzuki are one of a kind and the people that give Playstation the creative edge over others. There are a few more but you can't court them all, it's too bad their talents are wasted.

Sony should just contract him again asap for a PS5 project. Their current relation works best for them, his studio doing the creative work while Sony Japan the technical work.

Next for them is to patch the horrendous framerate, camera and the overall wonkiness of The Last Guardian and then we will have a true masterpiece. :)

Some indie game that takes too long to make and sends Gen Design bankrupt.

Let's wait and see what will he use to marvel us next.

I just think Sony need to get Team Ico to be a bit more streamlined, regardless of what happens. Some studios take too long to release games, I'd like Team Ico to at least produce another game before 2030.

Hmm, pie.
