Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft Confirms For Honor Will Be Always Online, Despite Previous Promises of Offline Campaign

Ubisoft has today confirmed our earlier report that its upcoming melee action game For Honor will require users to be online at all times.

The news originally came via the game’s newly updated box art on Amazon, which was updated to include a disclaimer on its front cover stating that an internet connection was required.

Some users had speculated about what the disclaimer actually meant, especially as the publisher had previously given assurances that For Honor would come complete with a fully featured, offline single-player campaign [2].

However, a spokesman for Ubisoft has today confirmed to Power Up Gaming that players will need to be connected to the internet at all times, due to shared progression between the game’s story and multiplayer modes. Its full statement reads:

“Ubisoft can confirm that For Honor is an always online experience. Some elements of progression, which is hosted online, are shared across story and multiplayer modes. Players will need to be connected to the internet at all times to play For Honor.”

I'm sure Ubisoft will change their tune once Vivendi secure a few more shares.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

seriously ubisoft? everything you were doing with this game was perfect. but then you drop split screen (seriously, fuck you), and now its always online? this is fucking bullshit.

Because Denuvo is not enough!

Why? What do they win by doing that, specially on consoles? And for what, for the possibility of a 4-5h campaign and a couple mission challenges?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Ubisoft LIED? Shock and horror!

This is going to be a glorious trainwreck on PC, I can feel it in my bones. Ubisoft never changes.

Since when a campaign mode needs to be connected with online all the time ? (Except mobile game)

Since they try to be sneaky and use DRM of some sort without calling it that.

They come out with some BS like "oh these couple missions are online only" thus since they pertain to the campain it has to be 100% online.

Cause you know, they couldn't make those missions offline at all and on the disk or anything.

It's just shady business. Pretending there is no option, when in fact they do it on purpose.

And there is one more reason to not buy this game.

Well, they did say they wanted to move to a more serviced-based system, so constant internet connection makes sense in that way.And makes the decision even more stupid. With Vivendi on their back and all the recent fails they had with their games, I wonder how long Ubisoft can hold on in the industry.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
