Tabata himself said otherwise in an interview with Kotaku.

"Didn't change much" doesn't mean no change at all. Shimomura said there has been changes, but no major ones.

Some people is not pissed about him chaging the story, they are pissed how he told the story. And even tabata agree and its going to patch it.

I don't think people should be pissed at Tabata. The higher ups at S-E are more than likely the ones to blame. They wanted a 2016 release. Tabata did what he could to deliver what he could in time.
