It appears that the Skylanders franchise is coming to an end. Bungie has tweeted that fellow Activision studio Vicarious Visions, who were slated to make the 2017 Skylanders game, are instead joining them to work on Destiny 2. Vicarious Visions just finished working with the remasters of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy.

Skylanders had a six year run and reportedly made over 3 billion for Activision. Destiny 2 confirmed.

Do i smell a pinch of wishful thinking in OP's prediction? VV isn't even the main developer of Skylanders, that would be Toys for Bob. VV only made 2 out of 6 of the console releases, and some handheld/mobile games or whatever.
Also skylanders are getting a tv show or something, i don't think they're done with the series yet.

I'm having fun right now with Skylanders Imaginators and don't want to see the franchise end. It is possible that the Skylanders series is going to a two year schedule and Toys for Bob will be working on it for a 2018 release. Nobody knows what they are working on next.
