Could you point me to the PR from Sony about Black Friday? I can't seem to find it doing a quick Google search and there's >30 pages on both the GAF and the NPD thread here.

edit : beaten.

Here is the official and complete PR directly from Sony themselves. Only linking this as the statement is comprehensive and straight from Sony

And, sure enough, no further relevent details were provided other than best BF week in PlayStation history.

If Xbox only lost by 100k in spite of the Pro, the new Slim, and PSVR? I'd call that a win for Xbox. Glad to see them keep the price down starting tomorrow! I might have to get my hands on one of those gray ones. It looks awesome.

There was nothing confirming that. Nothing solid, anyway.

Lol,  Some people still thinking that this was close despite not even a single official data. We can't say that it was far or close because of the lack of numbers.

How long do we have to wait for real numbers

At least a month, but we might never get them

This NPD? Where was that said?

On gaf and no one from the high-esteemed gaf members doubted the guy who wrote it, he seems trust-worthy...

There are tons of people doubting the claim. It stems from crapgamer and mooch who are the "industry insiders at Microsoft" that don't actually know shit about sales, but windows central is rolling with it and now Aaron Greenberg himself retweeted it. The same Aaron Greenberg that retweeted Yusuf Mehdi's 'Japan Xbox launch with a packed crowd" that turned out to be the video game crowd from forza 5 photoshopped into the empty Xbox launch event building. We have a completely new user at NeoGAF showing up corroborating the Windows central numbers but he has literally zilch for proof, he's unverified, and he's a new user. Tell me that's not suspicious. As of right now, we've heard no reliable news on actual numbers.

She already said last month that we won't be getting November numbers from here until January. I think we might not be getting any numbers at all because she seems to have removed her Twitter account.

Even though the Xbox won previous months i am not surprised by this result.

IF the numbers going around are true (100k difference) then that's extremely bad for Sony. That could actually indicate a shift to what's the popular console among buyers from PS4 to XB1. The 100k win would have been fine without the Pro launch, but with Pro launching? Awful.
Again, IF true.

Is the yoy down for X1 and PS4 still true?

Against, IF true.

for it to be true though would require that Playstation has its best Friday sale EVER, AND pass 50 million consoles, AND have the pro pre orders - and yet still do 400k+ WORSE than last year.

That the xbox one S that has been doing well for 4 months with all those sales did WORSE than last year.

It also would require that the only two places to have this information be "windows central" and "crap gamer". Leaving the question why would they have the numbers, why does no one else have the numbers - and specially why wouldn't xbox have the numbers?

On top of that how would they have the playstation numbers? Who would trust the two most biased people possible with both Microsoft numbers AND playstation numbers?

I'm not sure why nobody else has leaked the numbers, and I can't speak for this crapgamer guy (honestly, first time I heard the name was during this hubbub), but the EIC of Windows Central came onto Reddit about an hour ago (along with Jez) and defended their sources on the numbers. I can't say whether or not their sources are accurate, but it's a case of "I believe you believe it."

Now, IF the perfect storm you described happened, and Sony had their BBF and hit all those amazing milestones on a down YOY, then I'd attribute it to spin on the part of Sony. I can't think of any other way to square that circle. They possibly included worldwide sales this year instead of referring to just the NPD numbers. I only say this based on the idea that companies spin numbers all the time, and I'm not criticizing them if they did this. It just doesn't seem outside of the realm of possibility.

While WC seems adamant that the sources are 100% accurate (and defy anyone to report otherwise), I agree with you that somehow they had access to numbers they shouldn't have (PSVR numbers specifically). I'm sure Microsoft and Sony have the numbers, but those aren't something they would ever report.
