Probably.  I do wonder if this was done directly to address concerns that the portable mode would result in the framerate crapping the bed.  If so, certainly showed that well.  Also, perfectly timed to reserve some mind share during the Holiday period to make sure they don't have to start from square 1 with the general public in January.

Edit:  Actually that framerate concern could be the real reason.  A lot of people were skiddish about the framerate drops during the Switch trailer when Zelda was in portable mode so I could see this being a sort of "correction" of that.

OMG Jimmy is so lucky, I wish I could try out the Switch

P.S. Yaaassss nintendo get that mainstream promo

The first PS Vita had an OLED screen.

I am not pinning all my hopes and dreams on the screen being an OLED though, IPS is still great.

I know, but it's price at the time, the card system and other things that worked against it, just made me not want the thing, but the Switch is hitting some good notes so far with me.

IPS will do the job though.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

march cant get here soon enough !!

Agreed, perhaps for the New Switch...

Nintendo better work out their naming scheme if they plan to make more than one SKU.

The game looks so smooth (I know t's hard to judge from off-screen footage but this is the impression I got)

There's two fans. One is in the system. One is in the dock which provides additional cooling. You're not going to see the fan inside the dock because it's inside the dock.

Laura Kate reported that and she's basically been right on everything regard the Switch (segmented d-pad, swappable sides, trailer reveal date, etc. etc. etc.).

You can see two air intake vents on the bottom back side of the unit right there anyway. That's likely where the dock fan pushes cool air into.

Ah, if those are vent openings on the base then yeah, that might be for a supplemental fan.  The other option is just pushing air around the system near hotspots.  That does help, I had to use a cooling pad with my first laptop when the fan started to go out and was running at I suppose 40% efficiency?  The pad helped keep it in safe operating temperatures so even a supplemental fan like that could help just a bit.

Basically this. I just wanted to acknowledge I saw the post but had nothing to add.
