I think you might mean "had them take away from the endless money pile". Is there any evidence of his run at Konami being anything other than totally profitable? On every individual project, let alone overall? I'm feeling green......

I'm not feeling too green...

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/mgs-5-phantom-pain-cost-konami-over-80m-fuelling-speculation-hideo-kojima-split-1513796

I don't really see Kojima as the good samritan that is free from all blame though. I love some of his games but I'm not going to say he's an objectively good genius and extremely, very wise with money.

That article is from Aug 3 2015. Seven months later, the game had shipped 6 million units. If the financial info is out there, IDK, too lazy. I'm thinking it made that $$$ back. Easy.

edit - that's SOLD according to Konami. Not shipped.

Either way my previous point still stands.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Punished Kojima

Well, now we know why the game wasn't properly finished.

Uh....not sure how much I trust Keighley on this one. Not that I have any desire to defend konami or anything, but Keighley was rock hard for Kojima during the game awards. Hell, he was positively gushing.

Going off him, talking about Kojima like a war Hero that was prevented from bringing the cure to cancer and end of world hunger to society by forces of evil, I think this might be a tad exaggerated.

I can buy it if only because there have been stories about how Konami basically acts like North Korea re: its employees for years now.

I remember seeing a picture of sleeping bags under all the desks , about Kojima being kept from his staff ,I'm sure he employed all those stealth techniques he came up with for MGS, I'm sure the snake cam got a work out.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Until I can be shown otherwise, MGS V was bank. Like every other MGS. I see no evidence of tossing anything into an endless money pit. It's remarkable it turned out as well as it did.

I disagree. It came out incomplete and the writing being off the rails.

That's all well and good, but you seemed to be on the money train. Am I misinterpreting your post? The money pit and all? I'm about done trying to kick water uphill. He's never gone into the red for Konami. Never. Ever.

If you call conversing as "kicking water up a hill" then I honestly don't know what to say other than are we done?.

YOu don't know that for sure, but basing everything on the sales without the numebrs on their end isn't a sure fire way of going "it's a fact".

I'm quite comfortable in assuming MGS V was a profitable venture. If MGS V, or for that matter, Kojima in general, on any past Kojima project, is ever proven to be a "money pit" as you postulate, you can have my avatar for a month. I need nothing in return. You're totally ignoring the $$$ aspect, which was the crux of your initial post. So yes, kicking water uphill. He's not a financial albatross. He's a phoenix. Always rising. That's why he's a fucking rockstar, and Itagaki bitches about other people from the shadows.
