I wonder if that has something to do with how boring and poorly written the game was

Uh....not sure how much I trust Keighley on this one. Not that I have any desire to defend konami or anything, but Keighley was rock hard for Kojima during the game awards. Hell, he was positively gushing.

Going off him, talking about Kojima like a war Hero that was prevented from bringing the cure to cancer and end of world hunger to society by forces of evil, I think this might be a tad exaggerated.

I can buy it if only because there have been stories about how Konami basically acts like North Korea re: its employees for years now.

Yeah, what they are reported to have done to many of their employees is repulsing. And I do think they might have forced him away from his team and put him on a diffrent floor. It's the 'locked room' thing that I think might be a bit of an overdramatisation on Keighleys part.

Wouldn't that be all kinds of illegal, not to speak of the implications in case of a fire or something? I believe that konami are shitheads who would force their highly skilled an speciallized staff into toilet-cleaning positions when displeased with them, but committing actual crime by holding someone as high profile as Kojima literally hostage? I think their lawyers would step in for their own protection.

Haven't Kojima done all of it through MGS story?

Haha well played, sir!

I don't know how literally Keighley meant "locked". But sequestered away from his team, that I can definitely believe. Clearly they didn't care about Kojima's actual involvement in the project and only needed his name on it to sell the game. There was even a weird point toward the end where Konami was denying that Kojima was leaving the company and claimed that he was only taking a well earned vacation.

So if your boss doesn't like your work would you be ok being "jailed" for six months until your contract expires?

From the threatment Konami was giving never putting a foot there for the rest of his live is a well earned vacation.

Its not jailed.... you show up for work, and you get your own room, where you can sit in..... and occasionally talk to a middle man, that ll back-and-forth, to get some of your input into action, for the game.

You'd leave work after hours, and next day meet up again, to be locked away in a room.

Well you just described what is basically the semi-jail in Brazil... you work during day and go to jail at night and may only talk to your lawyer on jail. Just reversed.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. I feel like Keighley may have exagerated just how bad Kojima had it those final months at Konami. Keighley was going full on fanboy last night, he was gushing over Kojima so much that poor Kojima looked embarassed.

I believe it. If Konami didnt want kojima makeing radical and expensive changes to the game to make it better.

They decided to just keep him away from the game, and moved him away from the team that worked on it.

Meet up for work, sit alone in a empty room, go home, do the same thing next day... for 6months.

Really makes a person wonder how many more ways he could have put his name on MGS5. Truly a missed opportunity.

I wonder of this is where he got the idea for Death Standing, because if so then #FuckKonami!
