That's somewhat reassuring, but Bioware as a whole have been suffering under the thumb of EA. They've forsaken RPG elements in more than one franchise for the sake of gaining a broader audience. There's nothing inherently wrong about it, they need to sell copies, but it's frustrating for an aging nerd who grew up with their classics in the 90's and 2000's.

They just released the second briefing of the Andromeda Initiative. Well worth a look, and much more science/exploration/trade etc focused.

I'll take a gander, as long as it's not probing planets or raiding blueprint copy facilities with slightly different color palettes, I'm good.

I find it comforting that even in distant galaxies where we are the aliens, people still speak English in standardized American accents.

Let me know what you think!

Also, I am biased because DA: Inquisition was the first Dragon Age game I actually enjoyed, but I dont think EA have destroyed Bioware yet. With the giant exception of the outrageous prices they still charge for Mass Effect Trilogy DLC.

That said, we haven't actually had a built-from-scratch Mass Effect game from Bioware since EA bought them. And this game is a massive (LOL) undertaking. Here's hoping.

I still cant get over that mc's awful facial expression.

Didn`t Bioware explain that in one of the existing ME games with their translator thingy?

Besides, people playing the game in languages other than English won`t be hearing those aliens speak English

Yeah the characters all have universal translators. Which isn't as ridiculous as it sounds when you think about the fact their travelling 3 million light years in cryo-stasis, have biotic abilities, and during their journey people back home annihilated a sentient race of uber-machines bent on cyclical genocide.

The new Madam Shepard has such a baby face, it looked so awkward when she tried acting tough in the dialogue. The female VA also needs improvement because she too didn't sound intimidating in the conversation either.

Exactly what I was thinking. Kinda ruined any tension that moment had. She never stopped smiling while guns were drawn on her.

Still a day one purchase, though. I'm not crazy!

Indeed, the hope part, that is. I just hope that CDProjekt Red have managed to kick some balls in the bigger studios on the globe, they really came out and shocked everyone and showed that it's not all about outrageous budgets, PR and tosh and that one can create RPG's without basing it entirely off of cliches. I think Andromeda will be a really good game, I'm just hoping for fantastic, because we all know that Bioware are more than capable of making fantastic games.

Not looked at trailer however, the female voice actor has a Jennifer Hale to compete against. She was the reason why female Shepard is better than male.

Hmm, pie.

For those worried about the facial animations, Bioware has said on twitter that they're still working on it

Mass Effect: Andromeda's facial animations are still being polished
http://www.pcgamer.com/mass-effect-andromedas-facial-animations-are-still-being-polished/
In response to questions from fans, BioWare's Aaryn Flynn and Mac Walters issued assurances that Andromeda is still a work in progress.

And there's also new info about the Nexus Station, our Citadel in Andromeda

MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA'S NEXUS STATION IS A "SMALLER, STREAMLINED" VERSION OF THE CITADEL

Mass Effect: Andromeda takes place in an entirely different galaxy, very distant and different from our own, that will take centuries of intergalactic travel to reach. Yet the latest update to BioWare's Andromeda Initiative website suggests that in spite of that great distance, humanity's new home won't be all that terribly different from the one we left behind.

If that's the case, I'm mostly just upset that this new protagonist doesn't have her translator tuned to make everyone speak in a comedy Australian accent.
