When it comes to diversity Nintendo is one dimensional. They have some nice exclusives but that's also questionable with lots of Mario games (super Mario, Mario kart, Mario party, Mario maker etc)Xbox tries to do a little better with its first party games and good third party support. PS4 has best third party games with great first party games. To be honest PC does best compared to all of these. But in the console arena PS4 is the undisputed champion when it comes to diversity.

But just because Nintendo titles include Mario in them that doesn't mean those games are all one dimensional, there was a good interview a while back which explained why in some of the games that Nintendo produced they went with using Mario as the main character, because not only does he have the brand recognition that Nintendo weigh on his Italian shoulders but also when a game is allowed to be created as a "Mario" title it also means that the creators of the game no longer have to worry about creating a main character for their game who will be liked by the buyers, they can just focus 100% on creating a fantastic game for Mario to be a part of.

But yeah to suggest that Mario Bros/Mario 3d games and Mario Kart are all the same type of game because of the word mario would be like suggesting that Basketball, Baseball and Football were the same sport because they have the word ball in the title.

As for the topic of the OP sadly it isn't true because the most diverse gamer in general does not have a platform of choice, they play games were ever good games are, you can't say "I limit myself to X platform because Y and Z platforms have less diverse games, as such I have access to the most games of any gamer" because there is gamers like myself who'll happily pick up X Y and Z and enjoy games on all of the systems, sure if you were limited to just one brand (for some odd reason) then Playstation right now would offer a lot of value and diversity, but that isn't to say that the other two equally don't have amazing games which you will only get to play if you expand the platforms you use.

Yeah, I feel the most comfortable playing playstation. Booting up and Xbox or a Wii U just feels slightly more like I'm joining a cult, whereas I feel like my playstation is just happy to be 'the game machine...' which is all I want it to be.

And here lies what's wrong with the playstation community. They aren't gamers and wouldn't know a videogame if it hit them over the head. Gaming was invented as a test of skill, agility, and endurance of its player.. Games like Space Invaders, Asteroids, Yars Revenge, and PacMan. Not what love option to take, or what path takes you to a happier ending. That doesn't require hand/eye coordination.

I'll stick with Xbox and Nintendo. They have been at the forefront of gaming and know what I need. Not spamming some button to move a boulder for someone named Drake.
