It will hit Japan in the Winter of 2017. With a cast headed by pop star and actor Ryosuke Yamada of Hey! Say! JUMP starring as Edward Elric.

I'm excited for this movie, but to me this part is an immersion breaker; A Japanese actor playing the role of a European character. Then again who knows I might like it because after watching Ghost in The Shell Trailer I've accepted the decision to cast Scarlett Johansson as lead.

Is it just me or ALL japanese live action movies suck? Anime related or not I feel like japanese actors are...soulless, no emotions and pretty bad to be honest.

I have never seen a good Japanese movie that isn't animated.

For the same reason everyone in the show and manga speaks perfect Japanese, regardless to if they're from the series's equivalent of europe, the middle-east, or asia; It's much easier to produce, and is predominantly targeting a domestic audience :p
