Too much water is still a stupid reason to lose points. Next he'd say Mario does too much jumping, or that Sonic does too much running.

Kallie Plagge reviewed ORAS, not Jose Otero.  She's the same person who reviewed Sun and Moon.

And if you read the entire review rather than reading memes or skipping to the pros and cons list, you would know that the reason for the "too much" water comment was that it caused a lack in variety due to excessive focus on water type battles while surfing and since surfing means you are always exposed to random encounters, it can kill pacing either due to unwanted battles or constantly stopping to re-apply Repels.

Very refreshing to see someone who bothers making sense of things instead of relying on memes or on whateveryone else is saying.

I agreed with her then and I agree now. Having some levels (areas in this case) is a nice change of pace. Having an excessive number can be a chore to play.

even GM Peer called her 'too much water' on one of the NVC episodes, and they are all laughing about it.  it seems that the 9.0 is a solid score and Kallie is able to redeem herself.  She is also an avid pokemon fan.

I would've taken her more seriously if she didn't just say "Too much water.", because that just sounds stupid on it's own.

Reviewers don't seem to be mentioning the post-game much which has me very worried. That was XY's glaring flaw, no post-game. I kidna feel like GF has adopted the attitude that they're not gonna worry about a post-game for the new installments and just give the remakes good post-games. Which kinda sucks.

They laughed about the way it came out, not at her reasoning.  And frankly, that whole memetic stupidity is why they don't do the pros and cons lists anymore cause it just fuels the "OH U SHILLING" and "OH U CLICKBAITING!" crowd that loves to take out of context quotes and make memes out of them to arbitrarily bulk up their arguments with strawman falacies.

Played 4 hours with my friend while audio chatting and had a good time. Took 2 hours for us to finally reach the usual first big Pokemon city (Viridian, Rustboro, etc) but 9-10 different Pokemon along the way. But we were busy talking and kind of ignored a lot of important texts. The rotom map with its destination marker really helped us since we got distracted easily. The new camera angle also makes it more challenging to figure which destination to go but later on a lot of obstacles are blocking your path to follow your true destination making the game feel more linear.

"I'm already seeing myself playing for several hundred hours before the end of 2016"

Hah, even if you saw some things to complain about I'd say any game you plan to play several hundred hours of over a six week span probably just deserves the full 10/10

no offense, but wouldn't you expect an island to be surrounded by...well, you know, lots of water?

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

The issue she had was never with the presence of water but the ammount of time you had to spend on it.  Alola has tons of water but you don't have to spend so much time on it.  It's the time spent on it that effected gameplay in undesirable ways.

I would say alola has too little water, and too little fishing as well.

Alola barely has any water, there's like only one instance where you're forced to use it to progress the story.

Just beat the Elite Four and Champion. I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed by the route before the League, it was very short. The Pokémon League was also too easy and felt rushed in.
