I was only curious about the specific role of Survivor. Not sure how I feel about softclaiming some kind of power already. Anyway, I view Survivor as anti-town as it's easier to win with scum at endgame and being too pro-town gets them shot.

I believe nachomamma once played a full game as a townie when he was survivor.

I find it rather unusual that you are able to come to such conclusions about the power of the entire game based on your strength alone, especially considering you even admit you are a "moderately powerful role". It would seem entirely possible that you slipped, knowing full well the power of the mafia team, thus being able to deduce approximately how powerful the townies are.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

I think a Survivor could swing either way. I was once a BP miller/survivor and because I was shot by the mafia first night I chose to side with the town.

@ Miz

Did you really not know I was making an example and actually thought I was saying that this could be possible? The probability statement.

I just wanted to make it clear that probabilities in past games don't matter in the present. Nothing personal, but I just happened to quote you.

Day 1 lynches provide tons of information, even if it does ultimately lead to a townie dying. You can analyze the votes, who was eager to vote for people, etc.

You obviously run the risk that you kill an important role (assuming this isn't vanilla, I don't recall if it has been declared as such), but without the lynch, you effectively give the mafia a free night and we start day 2 with little more than we had on day 1.

With the little we currently have, I'm going to put a vote out for Stefl. I feel like his not wanting a day 1 vote, plus really questioning those who do reeks of him wanting to get to night and avoid something catastrophic for the mafia.

Vote: Stefl

I believe you did the same thing. If you're a townie, then you'd have no reason to assume it isn't vanilla(by your definition of the term) regardless of whether you are one or not. But you were first on Stefl, so I don't think it likely for you to scummates.

Stefl's defense hasn't been bad in my eyes, but the explanation of it hasn't been the greatest. It was easy to scoff at prof's vote, but seems natural to react with 3 votes plus a FoS that was stated to be equivalent to a vote by FF. But he didn't state that, and turning it back at prof was cringeworthy. I think Stefl's better than that. I have nothing against a Stefl lynch, but I don't want toDay's only options to be him or No Lynch.(I am not taking spurge or prof's lynch trains to be viable at this point)

@pro-town Survivors: Yes, a Survivor can certainly choose to side with town, but two examples of such does not make it pro-town. In fact if it can win with scum and chooses not to, then it is not Playing to Win, which is debateably modkillable. I will never trust any third-party unless it's some strange setup in which they become mod-confirmed pro-town.

I don't see mine as the same thing at all. Stefl straight up indicated his assumption was based on his own role. Mine, on the other hand had a lot more to do with vanilla games just plain being uncommon on this site.

Hang on, now.  A bulletproof miller survivor would have every reason to be the towniest town that ever towned.  And in general it's up to the Survivor to judge whether they fear a mafia hit or a mislynch more.

(And by mislynch, I mean "failing to get mafia" even though a survivor lynch isn't exactly a complete disaster. And I'm not saying I'd necessarily trust a survivor. But, assuming I believe a given third-party claim, I can certainly imagine that there might be circumstances in which I'd mostly trust such a claimant.)

In other news, what do you make of Stefl now?
