Tried the demo. My japanese not being so good, it's a little difficult to get through the option menu and whatnot. But I was curious to see how well the performance was on the regular PS4. It's much better and more stable than the other demos released before.

But the distracting aliasing is still there on characters hair, and I really wonder what the heck S-E thought when they decided that this kind of crap looking aliasing on characters you see at close-up was ok by today's standards.

Hopefully, the PS4 Pro addresses that properly. Getting mine just in time for the game's release, so here's hoping I won't be disappointed.

Interesting note: HDR is available for the regular version as well. And once you've seen the game in HDR mode, there's no turning back.

Excellent. The ultimate FF experience this fall is on the ps4 pro.

Good news for the performance.

Were there any dips at all at times or was it completely stable?

I'm sure there are dips, but they're not very noticeable. If you tried the demos, there aren't anything like in those, that's for sure.

The game seems to perform pretty much as good as games like The Witcher 3. Which dips from time to time, but is mostly locked at 30fps, with the dips not being felt much when they happen.

Performance on high framerate mode seems to be at 40-50fps or unlocked according to some reports( such as dualshockers) so it's way smoother but the visuals are less so. Hopefully the final pro version will offer even more drastic improvements in both visuals and performance.

I don't think this is Square's fault but rather hardware limitations and art direction.

All of the characters have long and very detailed hair. Especially Noctis. There's gonna be aliasing especially on the hair, the higher resolution, the less aliasing in the hair. OG PS4 version runs at dynamic resolution which goes from 900p to 1080p. Post processing AA solution game is using has trouble with smoothing the hair, if they made it stronger it would kill these jaggies but make the game more blurry overall. So that's a trade-off.

Long story short: Buy PS4 Pro and FFXV to have the best looking silky smooth and shiny hair :P

No. The hardware limitations are known and set in stone. Square-Enix chose to design the characters hair this way. They could have made the strands bigger to make them look better than the pixelated mess they chose to adopt for this game.

It's all on them and their design choice.

Spent most of the day yesterday playing this demo. Holy sht how did tabata manage to fix that PD atrocity into this? There are still some graphical bugs (water looks sht on OG ps4), but the performance is much much more stable in this demo.

I also feel this game is Shimomura's best work. The intro, exploration, and battle theme are just godlike.

Fingercrossed I hope the story is as good as other aspect of the game

What does PD mean?

Also man oh man, once that fricken CD leaks, I'mma listen to the OST for hours!!!!!

PD stands for Platinum Demo. =P

I pre-ordered the FINAL FANTASY XV - Original Soundtrack - Limited Edition [BLU-RAY MUSIC DISC]

From what I've heard so far, it seems like this soundtrack is going to be Shimomura's best work yet.

Honestly, Platinum Demo seems like something thrown together on the cheap and the quick to help build hype and as a gesture to people who didn't feel like spending 50 dollars on a completely unrelated remaster just to get the Episode Duscae demo.  But seriously, they *need* to release this demo in the West.  Right now, 90% of the potential audience for XV only have the PD to go on.
