The exclusive episodes for the 360 are nice, but offers no real system selling potential. Free online multiplayer, free Home integration + DLC, no disc scratching / RRod worries, alledged better graphics for the PS3 version, no annoying drive noise, etc should be of greater importance.

Yes you have right. PS3 players can play at night and others people in room will no wakeup.

The game will sell better on the 360, but as far as hardware, it will push more PS3's into market than 360's.

How do you know that? That's just your personal opinion that you're trying to pass off as fact.

I think the bulk of new console consumers will look at this from a larger perspective as listed above. We know very little about these episodes just like we don't know much about GTA V, there's a very good chance GTA V will never see the day of light on the 360 while a PS3 version is pretty much guaranteed unless Microsoft buys Rockstar or something. The XBox saw a port because it was well specced for this game (the GameCube didn't and now the Wii doesn't neither) and sharing entry spec PC technology of the time, I think for GTA V the Rockstar dev team will want to push much further rivalling other PS3 games of the time, this thus hindering a 360 port.

Regarding these episodes how many will sign up for XBox live? Some Microsoft stats show a very large percentage of 360 users not even having signed up a free (non multiplayer supporting) silver account! How many will finish the game before GTA V arrives (I haven't completed San Andreas), GTA games are pretty big, doesn't it get boring after so much playing? And so it's maybe time to play some other fine games in between of the next major release? Many people don't even play much of the story, just steel cars, create havoc and let the police SWAT teams and helicopter chase after them in a cat and mouse play. IMO all points to consider, Microsoft can claim what they want and pump up their air balloon until it explodes in their face.

I think the console buyers who put features (or built quality) way below entry price wouldn't likely sign up for XBox Live gold, nor have a harddrive to store this content on, nor pay for additional content.

IGN (stated better anti-aliasing) or here from PSM:

PS3 vs 360 sales

I'll be picking up the PS3 version because I perceive it to be the natural home of this game and because I've lost too many games due to disk scratching on my 360 (4 and counting) that I'm not prepared to run the risk of my GTA IV game disk going the same way.

I am largely platform agnostic. I fail to understand why some people get overly fanboyish about what is an inanimate piece of electronics that's obsolete even before it's launched, when there are far more important things to champion, such as preventing environmental destruction or preventing millions of people dying unnecessarily from illnesses. This fact however, doesn’t mean I am not someone who doesn’t enjoy gaming as a pastime (as I have done for the last 20 years) or doesn’t have a strong interest in how the market is evolving – hence my presence on this site.

Platforms owned – PC, DS, X-Box 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.

Yh PS3 for me, quite simple really.

- Free Online

- Better Controller

- EXCLUSIVE PS3 GTA IV STUFF ( http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g10/wwcr/P1010249-1.jpg )

- Better Graphics

Well ok the last two are a bit controversial but from what alot of people who previewed GTA IV said is that the PS3 has warmer colours and better aliasing (SMOOTHER CORNERS AROUND STUFF)

I would have bought a 360 for GTA IV because of the EXCLUSIVE CONTENT EPISODES PACK things but no one knows shit about them and i couldnt wait till 2009 for the epsideos so i thought fuck it get a PS3, u get more for your money.

@Qly: they don't need to buy the DLC in order to give the 360 an advantage in sales, they just need to be convinced that they want it.

Never underestimate the power of marketing.

Yeah.. but what for?

If you have a ps3 you'll get it for ps3, if you have a 360 you'll get it for 360. If you don't have either chances are, you'll get a Wii, and play wii sports for a month before realising you look really stupid while doing so.

If you don't own a wii or REAAALLY want to play GTAIV for the PS360 then it'd be kinda dumb to choose based on the downloadable content of one game.. you'll probably look at exclusives.

The only case in which your statement is valid is if someone owns both consoles and then again... why bother thinking about the tiny slice of population that is hardcore enough to own the 2 most expensive consoles on the market?

Listen to the voice of reason, then do as I say.

Initially 66/33 in favour of the 360, but that'll increase moreso than the PS3 due to the dlc, it'll give the title better legs, so 80/20 in the long run.

That and it's going to sell more 360s than PS3's as GTA is better known as an Xbox franchise.
