IGN have put up an extensive 'preview' of the game (IGN UK have already scored it with a 8.7). It sounds great to me.
But most importantly - the reviewers loved the online modes. You can connect/play online with NO friend/Wii codes - it picks evenly ranked random players, and you play against them. Or you enter your friend codes, to play against them.
"What is especially impressive about the online mode is that you can play two-on-two matches with a unique twist. If you've got a friend over your house, the two of you can cooperatively jump online from a single Wii and battle against two more people who are sitting together in another living room across the country.
When your picking your team characters, the player with the lowest ranking gets to choose first, which is a great means to offer those who lack real skills an immediate advantage if they so desire.
Based on what we saw, the online experience with four-star connections is lag-free. Strikers moves at a frantic pace and not once did we see any sign of slow-down, lag, or delay of any kind. Even all the smash moves performed with the Wii remote were represented on-screen without hesitation during the online bouts. If the game is any indication, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is more than capable of delivering and maintaining great online experiences.
We walked away from our time with Mario Strikers Charged very impressed. The original game was a sleeper hit on and this new iteration is undeniably much better in every regard. ..."
...this more than anything else, should make Nintendo fans very, very happy... :)
