SINCE MY PREVIOUS THREAD GOT LOCKED...

Microsoft isn't sharing Xbox One sales data, but claims it beat PS4 in October

Sony rested on its laurels with the PS4. It hit its stride right out of the gate, smashing into Xbox One's awful medieval DRM system (rightfully so), but shortly after, they kind of stopped making progress compared to Microsoft. Meanwhile, their competitor has opened the gates to cross-platform play (something Sony hasn't answered to yet), given us cross-buy and cross-play on PC, continues to update its catalog with backward compatible titles both first and third party, and allows us to change our Gamertag (hah).

And that's translating to sales, as Microsoft is claiming in a statement given to Destructoid (and based on an NPD report) that the Xbox One was "October's best-selling console." Yeah, they aren't giving us hard numbers because of how much they've been embarrassed in the past (all they give us is "Xbox subscribers"), but that might change if they keep outselling the PS4.

"Keep?" Yeah, this is the fourth month Microsoft can claim that they're the top console in the US, and the second in AU and EU. They're stating that the surge is due to Gears of War 4 and Battlefield 1, the former of which is the "top exclusive selling game of October." More NPD data will be released on Monday.

Obviously you.

If Sony had done the same you wouldn't be so adamant to post this multiple times.

I think XBOX One s is now right in the perfect zone of affordability and a perception of a true contender for a perceived 4k experience at a budget price. This was a brilliant move from Microsoft. Of late their overall innovation strategy including Surface (Studio, Pro 4, Book with i7 etc) suggests an approach of incredible creativity and an effort to succeed. I honestly think that this would be troubling for Sony given that the PlayStation line of business is their only profit making line of products. Sure, the pro will help a little but that will be limited to a short timeframe (launch and soon after) and cannot compete with a true budget 4k slim machine like the One S (even if it is just upscale). Most normal people do not care for this (or know the exact difference like us nerds) and are budget conscious. Sony have a real concern here.. Don't believe me?? Just wait a 24 months and see for yourselves. Sony should have included their 4K vision with the Slim..Terrible mistake in my opinion. And yes PS4 pro will take November and possibly December (but far less likely as Christmas shoppers are budget wise - for kids gifts etc), but it will be short lived until Sony can review their hardware again or knock down the price to below Xbox One levels. Yes these surely are exciting times. Its amazing to see what a desperate and aggressive company strategy can achieve (Not just against Sony, but also Google and Apple)..

Lmao y'all are getting wild

Then please offer your own analysis and explantion as to what is occuring here with the sustained turnaround (4 months straight and even against the beloved almighty PSVR release).. Love to hear it! remember...This was not supposed to happen according to many of you..

Since I only posted this twice because my previous thread was locked, is that suppost to mean I should repost every POSITIVE Microsoft article I've already posted to "even the odds?'

If Microsoft launched the xbox one at $399 in comparison to the PS4, I don't think the PS4 will be relevant in North America IMO. The main reason why people bought a PS4 was because it was cheaper and their friends have it so they buy the system their friends have. Microsoft just needs to know going forward keep your system price in the same ball park as your competitor and Keep expanding on huge AAA exclusive games.

It means what I said, your bias is obvious and your determination to post negative MS news and downplay Microsoft just detracts from the thread. But this is VGC and that practise has become part of what it is. Not exactly going to change. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

July saw INSANE xbox one sales.  August saw all the pre-orders from the xbox one S release.

September and October have shown good deals both months. Offering at least a free game per purchase.

While the playstation has had no deals or bundles, no old stock to burn off for insane sales, and sales being "leached" off by the PS4 pro.

It is best to wait for december and onward to see a normal comparison of products.

Fair enough! Let us wait and see... Re December, I do think however that most Christmas shoppers will go for the most obvious and reasonably priced option here and even then after that the Pro fanfare will have subsided... Remember it is a highly priced product for those after a premium experience.  The majority of us will go for a great experience at an affordable price especially where kids are involved. Yep the revised slim version at 4k (upscale for gaming) has had a positive percetion effect among many.
