Even that's debatable. Just look at this list of Sony owned IP, and then rememeber that Nintendo had an extra 14 years to build up a franchise back catalog.

Nintendo is #1, imo, but Sony certainly makes a strong case for the position themselves, and the fact that they employ more developers than Nintendo and Microsoft combined sure gives them an arsenal with which to challenge Nintendo for the crown.

it does make me wonder what the hell all these people are doing right now. I cant wait to here what team ico is doing. i Think sony makes the most diverse amount of games.

In the last year I said. I could name many in 2006.

Oh to your last post here is a list of nintendo published games. I couldn't find a list of their franchises like you did for sony.

The most games they published in any one year on consoles was 18 for the year 2000, if I read that right. They seem to average between 10-14 a year on consoles. (edit: That actually shows that they have NOT grown as much as I thought, most likely from the loss of Rare)

Here is a list of games that Sony has published. Note that many years have been split between the ps1/2 or the ps2/3. The most games they ever released in one year were 20 in 2005. In 2007, Sony produced 18 games, 5 on the ps2, and 12 on the ps3. Nintendo only produced 14 games in 2007, all on the Wii.

The numbers are the opposite for the PSP vs DS, with the DS having more on average per year.
