Forums - Sony - The missing PS3 exclusives

Sony have the largest first party support out of any of the three console manafactures, and this leaves me wondering where the hell are all of the games. Below i've made a list of sony exclusive studios who are not known to be working on any project.

Sony Bend: Makers of syphon filter, last game was released in 2007. Currently employ 75 staff. Rumoured games in development: Syphon filter PS3

SCE Studio Cambridge: Makers of the medieval series and of ghosthunter. Last game was released in 2005. Known to be helping in the development of killzone 2. Currently employ 90 staff

Team ICO: Makers of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus: Last game released in 2005. A screenshot of an upcoming project was released in January. Rumoured to be working on two projects. Currently employ 120 people Rumoured games in development: Ico 2

SCE Japan Studio: Has a complex sub studio setup. Are known to have several games in development, but not enough to justify their employee base. Currently employ over 500. Rumoured games in development Forbidden Siren 3, Ape escape PS3

Incognito Entertainment: Makers of Warhawk PS3 and twisted Metal. Last game released in 2007. Making Warhawk Expansions but have announced that they are moving on to a new project. I couldn't fin information on the number of employees, but an estimate of 50-100

Zipper Interactive: Makers of the socom franchise. Not working directly on SOCOM Confrontation but assissting. Rumoured to be working on a new SOCOM game currently employ less than 100

SCE London Studio. Currently developing The getaway 3 and Eight Days, However with an employee base of alsmost 300, It's likely they have at least one Secret project. Last game released in 2007 (SingStar)

Sony Liverpool studios: Makers of Wipeout. Currently developing Wipeout HD. Rumoured to be developing a second wipeout for PS3 with a 2008 release date, but seems unlikely to be in such close proximity to another Wipeout title. Currently employ over 100 people, so there is a strong likelihood of an unannounced project

Naughty Dog: Makers of Jak & Daxter and uncharted. Currently employ 85 people. Last game released in 2007, Rumoured to be working on either a new Jak & daxter game or a new uncharted.

There are other Sony development teams for who I can't find information and these aren't listed. Feel free to contribute

You have done a very good job creating this list. it was a nice read well done. You would expect sony to release many exclusive games with so many people working on them.

I care to disagree with sony having the best 1st party support, but I see most of these games coming out 2009-2010.

this should be in the news section, great job man. i really have forgotten how big sony first party is.

He didn't say best, he said largest. Best is subjective and can be argued, numbers can be argued too, but one of you will be factually wrong.

Seeing as sony has a diversy line up of games while their closest competitor is 95% childish games.

Sony is easy best 1st party dev, no matter what you like you can get something good from Sony.

I'd say they're comparable to the Nintendo of a few years ago. But Nintendo EAD has grown since then, and they now have staff dedicated to new franchises such as the Wii series, Nintendogs, and Brain Training.

Nintendo has always been top dog, but starting around 2000 or so Sony has been right behind then, growing as Nintendo grows.  Hell, in the past two years alone Sony has bought Evolution Studios, Zipper Interactive, and Geurrilla Games among others.

From a sheer numerical standpoint, Sony's game division employs more developers than MS's and Nintendo's combined.  However, a lot of those work on things like Home and PSP/ps3 fimware updates, rather than games.
