Forums - Gaming - 360, PS3, Wii, and Vita consoles practically extinct at my local retail

So while shopping several places this weekend, I checked out the gaming section. Not gaming stores - but big box retail (Wal-mart, Best Buy, etc).

I noticed this: you really can't buy the 360, PS3, Wii or Vita consoles anymore at local retail. There's still a good number of 360 and PS3 games available. A few Wii games too.

The Vita is particularly sad shape though. Other than a demo unit next to the demo PS4, there's no evidence of the Vita's existence. Honestly, you may have a better shot of buying new original DS games and consoles than the Vita here in the American midwest.

PS4 and X1 are of course stronger than ever. 3DS selection is very vibrant too. There's a glut of WiiU games and a few WiiU consoles. Probably a few too many WiiU games for a system that will be totally replaced by March. I'd guess the last few WiiUs out to sell through the holiday.

RIP 7th gen. Farewell Vita. Good luck WiiU.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

In my city, in the most popular malls / districts for videogames shopping, there are still plenty of PS3´s  and Xbox360´s  available.
Wii and Vita are getting rare, but it´s still possible to find them without much work.

As for Vita games..... they pratically vanished from every store. Luck is needed to find one, and most of the times it´s just some Lego game

I don't see Wii/PS3/360 consoles on my usual stores, but the games still sell rather well. Actually, the Wii stores are still bigger than the WiiU. Vita sections are added to the NFC figurines, for some reason. Disney Infinity Vita seem to have been pushed a lot.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

The Wii U is becoming extinct here in Australia. Target no longer the Wii U, neither do other non-gaming retailers like Big W. JB-Hi-Fi have only one bundle(Mario Kart 8) and that costs $429, while the PS4 Slim can be had for $340AUS or $438AUS with Doom and Fallout 4. A much more powerful console with a huge library and blu-ray player.

I haven't seen the consoles for quite some time as well, but do see games for them..

Given 95% of my game purchases are done online I had not checked what store shelves looked like lately.
