Good call. It definitely could have been a new IP. It doesn't have all that much in common with older games in the series. I remember seeing the IW footage at Sony's presser at E3 and thinking it was a new property.

Me too, that footage had me go, "well, this looks exciting and interesting! I wonder what it cou... oh, ok... another CoD. Too bad." It's not really all that surprising they went this route, with space combat and all, since they've been moving more and more into the future. Not sure if it'll pay off in the long term though. So far, it doesn't look like it.
