Sqaureenix want it to sell 10 million,  I've never seen them say they want 20+ million.

They said it needed to sell 10 million to break even.

In a statement to Famitsu, as reported by Final Fantasy fan site Novacrystallis, Tabata said the figure represents how many copies the team would like to see the game sell. It's not necessarily how many it needs to sell to turn a profit, however.

10 million is a big number and one that few games reach. Tabata acknowledged in his statement that it's a lofty goal, but said it represents the studio's ambitious outlook. "We've thought about what we need to do to achieve this number and tasked ourselves with this huge objective," Tabata said.

Anyway, I think 7-8 million. 1 million or less on Xbox.

4-5 m on PS4
1-1.5 m on X1
800k-1.2m on PC

Here's my prediction:

Lifetime sales

PS4 with no rerelease: 4.5-5.5m

PS4 if a GOTY edition with all of the DLC releases next year: 5-6m

XB1 with no rerelease: 1.1-1.3m

XB1 with a GOTY editon: 1.4-1.6m

XB1 if the game gets a Scorpio version next year (4K, improved graphics): 1.8-2.2m

PC (if they decide to make a PC version later like they've hinted at): 1.5- 2m

These PC predictions seem a bit high considering the best selling FF on PC is 7 and it barely hit 1 million.

If it's a good benchmarking tool, it will sell over 1m like Rise of the Tombraider and Doom.

But tomb raider and doom already have a big following on PC compared to Final Fantasy which most of the fans are on console. Also FF15 will be a late port if it does come to PC.

Lifetime sales: 7 million
NA - 3.5 million
Europe - 2.5 million
Japan - 0.8 million
Others - 0.2 million

PS4 - 5.5 million
XBO - 1.5 million

You skipped the "Benchmarking tool" part, maybe it's my fault for picking bad examples.

Ryse: son of rome, was a late port that sold well because it was a good game to push people systems.
