Forums - Gaming - I was just at the game store trying out the 360...

... and frankly, I'm not impressed yet, although I played only for a short time. I still think I'll buy one for GTA4, with Microsoft's recent price cuts in Europe it's quite cheap now.

Granted, the games I played were probably not the best. The demo console just had a few demos, of which the best seemed to be PGR4 and Ace Combat 6. I played those games for a while - great graphics, but other than that, not impressed. Ace Combat 6 seemed too much of an arcade game for my taste, and PGR4 was "meh".

The controller feels good, unfortunately there was no FPS to try out how the dual analogs work for aiming. Being a PC/Wii player, I have my doubts about playing FPSs on dual analogs. I guess I'll have to try that out later, as there is still a chance I'll like the feeling.

As I said before, I'll probably still buy a 360 to play GTA4 on, but now I'm not sure of which model I'll get (not the Elite)... It doesn't seem certain that I'll buy a lot of games (some genres are better on the Wii/PC, and games are generally expensive). The fact that the Arcade doesn't have backwards compatibility is a bit of a turn off, and I may want to download GTA4's extra episodes later. BTW, would an Arcade+big SD card do for those downloads?

For you, what are the most impressive 360 games to justify the purchase of a 360?

I am also thinking about getting a 360, and the games that I want at the moment are Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey and Ace Combat 6, with Too Human and Fable 2 being the games that I want for the holiday (maybe Banjo)

If you want to play fps's on consoles without dual analogue, there is split-fx controller (or something like that) for the PS3, which is kind of like having a mouse, it got decent reviews from IGN, but I don't know if there is an Xbox 360 equivalent

I would say check out Mass Effect and Viva Pinata. Although since you're a PC gamer, both of those look like they're coming out on PC anyway. In reality, those are the only two games (present and future) that interest me at all for the Xbox 360.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

What is Viva Pinata, cause it basically comes bundled with the 360 on amazon.co.uk, so I would probably get it, I just wanted to know what it is really

Halo 3, Blue Dragon/Lost Odyssey/Eternal Sonata.

Saint's Row (GTA style game. BEST RIP OFF EVER)

Personally, Dead Rising, Gears of War, Mass Effect, and Uno (yes, the card game) are worth the price of admission. While I was focussed on my Wii, a lot of good games like Condemned 2 and Devil May Cry 4 came out. They're multi platform, but worth a look.

Thanks for the replies guys... I've heard a lot about some of those games, but I guess I have to research a bit more on them.

One more question - can I use the 360 controller to play games on Windows? I suppose I'd need some sort of adapter for the wireless controllers... Or do wireless controllers have a socket for wired connection?

Another question would be if the 360 upscales DVDs well, as that would be yet another reason to justify the purchase.

Again, thanks for your patience.

Ive been very temped to get a 360 at times. But im seriously affraid of the RROD, i swear for 360 dual analog stick arent different to ps3.. feels the same.

the game that made me wanna get a 360...*drum roll* Forza 2 that game is fairly fun, and the fact you can actually drift and leave double lines all over the road was insane i loved it.

I guess sony's lucky they got GT5 otherwise i would have got a 360.

I'm not afraid of the RROD... In Sweden (as well as many other EU countries) all electronics have at least 2 years warranty, and I don't think it's a serious problem with newly produced consoles anyway.

I believe it was Rocketpig that was saying the other day that reports of failing new consoles are almost non-existant.  Even if there was still a high failure rate, its covered by a three year warranty.

@NJ5

I'm positive the 360 controller can be used for Windows.  I think its actually supported by MS, but otherwise there is a simple procedure if you poke around google.
